I usually don't celebrate my birthday, too close to Christmas and New Year doesn't allow for lots of cake and all that stuff!
This year I volunteered to be the chef at home. A simple menu of starter, main course and dessert. Served up with the Sommelier's choice, a simple glass of chilled Champagne to start, my beautiful wife in a sleek black halter neck dress, high heels and having forgotten it was my birthday asking if she could help! It was already time for dinner - so I topped up her glass with a chilled white wine.
We ate and chatted, sharing stories, the rest of the Champagne, the last of the white wine. As my wife went to watch some TV, forgetting of course it was my birthday, I prepared the deserts.
As a true chef I had prepared a tasting menu, a range of deserts that should be enjoyed as a full experience! The menu was of course laminated and fully wipe clean. It read as follows:
Our 5 course desert tasting menu:
Cream Surprise Pie Sandwich Cup Cakes Knickers filled with glory Death by Chocolate
All deserts served with a healthy topping of cream, custard and toppings!
Happy birthday to me! No photos I forgot to set up the camera!. send me yours and let me know if this menu works for you!! xxx
Basically anything with a ridiculously high percentage of dark chocolate in it (though, oddly enough, a bar of dark chocolate does not qualify). Tend to be extremely rich, because you might as well use quality ingredients if you're going to put all that chocolate in it. Could be a cake, a mousse, a torte...
