Hope all our fellow UK wammers are safe in this storm. The wind has been absolutely howling round the housetops here, there's water coming through the leading on some of the western windows, and the rain a couple of hours ago was some of the most intense I've seen here, absolutely sweeping across the moors with dark heavy clouds blocking out the light, dusk came very early tonight.
There's bad flooding across the North, Caldervale has been badly hit again, as has Appleby away to the west. Really hope everone is OK.
Yes, Be safe everyone! I could do " trust" with the wind on the beach yesterday. I can't ever think of a time as an adult I've been able to that before.

Sorry Lisa but I don't understand what you mean by trust with the wind. Please could you explain?

You know when you were a kid and you'd fall back and trust your mate to catch you? Well I trusted nature, and the wind held me up! That's pretty powerful gusts x

Oh ok I think I know what you mean. That is pretty incredible to be able to do that with Wind. Did it feel like you were floating?

All I can think of is poor Piglet on the blustery day. Don't blow away Lisa!
For most of my life, the river would flood beyond the town, with minimal impact. Then in relatively recent years flooding of the town has happened, work has started on a flood prevention scheme after a "once in a lifetime" flood. There's been two more in a week, never mind the ones in between.
I hope everyone is safe! My sis in law is currently stranded up her mountain, all surrounding rivers have burst there banks creating an impassible moat.
As our beloved Princess Charlotte said to me yesterday ..."Dennis is an asshole "
Trouble is, in the UK the Environment Agency no longer dredges or clears the rivers. This is mainly to save money, but also the eco mentalists don't like disturbing the wildlife habitats. The net upshot is certain flooding when it rains.
The problem this time was that Denis, while not as severe as Ciara, dumped even more rain on already waterlogged ground, so there was nowhere for the water to go but straight into the rivers, resulting in massive flooding. Wales seems to have been particularly hard hit this time, though there is storm damage all across the country.
