Hey folks! A truly unique shoot here.... spread out over Volumes 80 & 81, but all shot over a few days with a fly-in model named Britney. She came highly recommended by Brandi (an all-timer!) so I just assumed this woman would be a similar level of easygoing "up for anything" personality... Nope! Britney was part force of nature, part diva, but mostly what we used to call a "hot mess." She was.... all over the place. There was a LOT going on in her life, and her work, and I tried to navigate it as best I could over these several days. (She quit modeling soon after, and I wasn't surprised, honestly.) Memory is a bit faulty now, but it feels like SS80Scene1 was the ONLY thing we shot on Day 1.... and then we maybe did the spy parody (Scene 4) and another on Day 2? (To put that in perspective, I think Brandi and I shot either 5 or 6 scenes on her first day & basically had a super chill Day 2.) She DID come through in the end, and thankfully we had a Day 3! But if you're wondering why 3 of the 4 clips from SS81 seem improvised on the spot... That might be why.
The upshot, though, is that Britney was TRULY unique among models of this era: A real glam girl with a high-fashion approach.... which was entirely her. (Check out her jewelry & makeup in SS80Scene 2, or those crazy tights and heels in Scene 3.) So to see her get so thoroughly messy really hit different. AND we figured out quickly that she could *really* slam herself with a pie.... And as the scenes got more improvised, she would basically just raid my "costume closet," find an outfit she liked, and improvise a whole scene to the camera while smashing herself with pies. Hey, whatever works....
I've shot tons of models since, including a few others that were *actual* divas and incredibly difficult to deal with.... But I never shot anyone quite like Britney again. Not my personal favorite, but folks over the years have raved about this one to me, and I can see it. She was a force of nature and a self-pie queen! More power to her! While the self-pies are impressive, she had perhaps the best self pie-sandwich ever in I think the scene with the pink outfit IIRC. There aren't many pics of it out there I don't think.
