Are there any fellow spandex lovers, wanting to shed light on unusual washing instructions? Most of us know spandex is quite delicate, when need to be washed. Every spandex outfit I own has different washing instructions. I had a messy session with my Mr Motivator singlet (pics on profile), having "trashed" it with shaving foam and custard, I thought the sponge clean only instructions, were a bit farfetched. All I did was wash the oose off and let it dry. When I order my RED and BLUE Adidas singlet's, I hop the instructions aren't anything like that.
To be honest I just pop mine in the machine for a normal wash and it's always been fine - the only thing I do is avoid using fabric conditioner on them.
My clean up process on singlets and speedos are the same: Even if they're off by the end of session, they go back on and we shower with them on, getting as much of the gunk out as possible.
Then we throw in the wash on normal cycle. I usually always wash cold. Add some tide and downy and then throw in the dryer.
I have noticed occasionally, if we didn't get a particular garment well rinsed before the wash, sometimes they'll come out of the dryer smelling a little similar to cake batter, so at that, I just throw in with another load of clothes to the wash and dry again.
All my lycra/spandex gear just goes into the washing machine - it gets foam, natrosol, etc out very easily, just with a regular detergent and 30 degrees temperature.
Metallic coated lycra (mostly the Chinese zentais) will lose all their metallic after a few washes. That is unavoidable really, regardless of what method you use to wash them.
