Hey sexies!! I'm approaching my final destination in San Diego and thought... let's compile a mud directory for Southern California and surrounding areas!!! I've been seeing a shit ton of places on my ride and have been hard most of the time I've been in the car.
Let's make it this thread and let's post mud spots.
Make a note of it's location and what's required to get there like a short hike down a path so we can plan for water and food and such. Make note of it being private or family friendly so we don't go getting naked when the moment is not good. Is it deep? Is it somewhere that the time of year matters?? Make note of anything else that's important to know.
Can't wait to see what y'all come up with and can't wait to get major league muddy!!! I plan to get my camera out when I can because this is new. I'm also into getting guys together in groups or one on one to dive in the mud with.
Im also planning on taking a day and hiking into some spots i saw on maps ... could be good!!! Will update. I will probably go look tomorrow if anyone wants to join

I have a car, can drive, etc
Lets do this!!
SWEEEEEET!!! Do you know of any spots you can share with us?? I'll be arriving in about a week and I'm DYINNNGGGGG to get muddy!! Totally will join you....
There's a 4x4 mud park at Azusa Canyon that can be fun for certain kinds of play. It's run by the US Forest Service and there's lots of families there, so everything must be G rated.
I really have a thing for seeing trucks get STUCK in the mud, so I love it for that. That's most of what goes on there, but you can end up falling in yourself or get shoved in and get covered from head to toe in the slop.
It's seasonal and only muddy from About August Thru January, then the rains fill the canyon up with water.
I swung by the Azusa off road area last summer but I don't have a truck. Apparently in order to get down to the mudding area you have to cross a couple small streams and a car can't do it. I got turned away and was mildly bummed! Maybe we can organize a Meetup if someone has a truck and can ferry those of us car drivers across.
I have heard that there are some muddy areas in the desert east of San Diego, but they may only be good after a big rain (which often happens in January or February). I don't know of any specific spots though. I'm definitely up for checking out some mud spots - it's been a while!
For the record as well: I have a van and an enormous sense of adventure... so I'm hoping to compile several like-minded dudes so we can toss each other in the mud! Can't wait to explore.. on all the roads I've traveled so far they're farm mud pits and very close to the road.. but I'm surveying from San Francisco to Chula Vista and will let you all in on my dirty little secrets.
I am totally interested in going to Azusa Canyon in a 4x4 with any like minded buddies. I have been there before years ago and remember seeing action. Would love to see other guys stuck in the mud and eventually covered head to toe in the slop. I will be in Los Angeles and Southern California the week of December 17, if any of you guys want to take a trip, I would up for it.
As someone who has lived in this state for 40 years, I can tell you quite truthfully that there is NO mud here. None. It never rains in this wretched place, and the few spots that MIGHT have some chance of being even remotely muddy are either so far away that it's at least a 3-hour drive from Los Angeles, or are in places that are fenced-off and never private or remote. California is the stupidest state for mud.

This strikes me as odd though. I know I've only been here for a very short while but I'm seeing all kinds of potential... wayyyyyy more than my home area in the northeast... to be fair it seems like even a reasonable spot would be at least an hour from any of the cities so 3 hours away is a nice adventure and one could even scheme a camping weekend of it.
I know it would be a trek to get muddy which is why I offer my van which seats a bunch so that maybe in a perfect world we can travel together and have a sexy time. I just love the idea of adventure especially when it has a sexy payoff like getting muddy.
It seems like you lack love for California or have fallen out of love with her which I can't understand because she's been very beautiful to me as of these last couple days.. sure it might not rain like it does elsewhere but it surely is beautiful and surely has mud. Of course what meets the eye is private property but with a bit more work than simply driving by I think we can find more.
BUT..... Azusa Canyon seems like something I'd get in on too! I don't have a serious enough vehicle for that but I'm happy to tag along with someone. I wonder what the situation is like there at night? So like, a camping trip or something where we would watch the boys play during the day and then we would play at night? Is that a thing?
Well, unfortunately, 'HornyPig' is pretty close to the mark on mud in S.Cal. It is really hard to find, and we haven't had any real rain for about 6 months. I've gone up to Hansen's Dam in the north San Fernando Valley a few times, sometimes you find some mud, and then sometimes you don't. And if you do, it's probably not going to be very deep. I've been out to the Azusa place, but you need a good 4 X 4 to enjoy that, and you have to be real careful about what you do there, as it is very 'family friendly'. Attached pix is from an outing at Hansen's last spring.
Soooooo.... does anyone have a yard and a hose?? Maybe that will do the trick hehehehe... but.... I'm determined. I will find somewhere and report back... I've arrived in San Diego at long last and am very excited to explore.....
I'm going to get a house asap... and in that event, I will have a mud pit in the backyard.. I mean, why the frig not, right?
If we get a good rainy winter then there is a real possibility to find mud in Southern California. Another chance is to find mud out in the desert during or right after a good monsoon summer rain but that is a hit and miss. Out there, the best places are in the bad lands that normally contains dry frothy mud that gets very smooth and silky when wet. For example search "mud hills to elephant knees".
