The things I've attended linked to the club have been brilliant. Really nice, welcoming people. I've only managed to get to a few events due to working funny hours... would love to have gone to more!
Thanks, guys for the replies, I'll let you know how I get on! Love the sound of the initiation... website says:
Q. The initiation looks really unpleasant, do I have to be initiated? A. Absolutely not! Everything is optional and if there's a reasonable alternative you'd prefer we'll try our best to make it happen for you. Plus if it's your birthday - let us know and we'll arrange a messy treat.
Dunno! But want to find out -- sounds amazing... have a big fantasy around being tied up on stage in a humiliating outfit and then completely deluged with all kinds of slop with a crowd of people all throwing stuff at me, laughing and jeering... and I just have to sit there and take it.
I used to be a member of SLOSH and had a great time at the events I attended.
There is no point, IMO, in joining SLOSH if you are not going to attend the events. This does involve a certain amount of travel, but they hold events around the country.
Mostly the meets involve various games and activities that involve getting covered in gunge (Natrosol type proper gunge). You can wear what you want. Join in or just watch, most people join in. Great bunch of very friendly guys.
Some SLOSH members are into watersports, so you can get 'wet' too if you want. Totally optional.
The initiation involves being messed up with food by other members of the group. I believe the use of food for this goes right back to the origins of the club. Not unpleasant at all! But if you prefer something else they would do something different for you.
The public events they put on are somewhat different, they involve a huge amount of work to put on a stage show. The normal meets are not a stage show....everyone just joins in to whatever extent they want.
The reason I did not renew my membership is simply that work, relationship, family and other real life commitments meant that I rarely had time available to attend SLOSH events. I would join again if I had the time, though.
Wasn't my experience (although admittedly I'm not t-girl) but I remember the adverts in Splosh mag and the website seeming very 'open to all' - and that was definitely my experience of the lads I met at Slosh events. Not trying yo be arsey or contradict you and I'm sorry if you have had a negative experience - maybe mixed up messages?
I've been a member for a while and try to go to as many events as is practical. Like any "mixed crowd" group event there's a chance that the other attendees won't be your type but everyone's in the same boat and is pretty respectful of consent etc. I've had some awesome group fun and other events where I've just enjoyed the opportunity to wallow in a big pool of slime with an audience. It's worth going along and they're usually up for someone going as a trial before paying for the membership.
i was told that the club was'nt for me and in no uncertain terms i was'nt welcome to join as it was all guys, so why not advertise it as a gay guy only thing ! oh well i can see why im slowing becoming bored of sploshing
SLOSH is and has always been openly an MSM group; the majority of members are gay/bi cis men but there are some straight/heteroflexible cis men as well. To the best of my knowledge there's never been an application from a trans man but I'm fairly confident that if someone did they'd be welcomed; I know I'd certainly welcome them, and if they applied but were rejected for being trans then I would vocally protest and quit the group if necessary. I don't think there's any transphobia at play here; it's simply that the group is for male-identifying people in to WAM.
Thank you for your application to join our club, but unfortunately, I don't think this club would be suitable for you. This club is very much a guy on guy club into sports gear, wrestling and that sort of thing, we did have a TV before in the club, but it soon became clear that not everyone was into this, and the person left the club.
It's insensitive and it's disappointing, but to me at least it comes across as coming from a place of ignorance and inexperience (conflating TV fetishism with the reality of being transgender) rather than hatred and bigotry. I've flagged it with the committee who are all volunteers, and hopefully as a minimum we can make sure that any future membership requests from trans people are handled with a proper amount of respect and consideration.

This has been passed onto the chairman personally from me aswell (Im on the committee)
I think there has been an error in the response personally.

I understand that but i dont believe anyone has ever been made to feel unwelcome untentionally
I write this as only a member of the club, I do not hold any position on it's committee so what I say here are my own opinions not an official position.
As far as I'm concerned being transgender and being a transvestite are not the same thing. The club is for people that identify as male and has adopted a loose dress code policy which doesn't include cross-dressing. This is no different to a lot of single sex fetish clubs on the scene which also have dress codes. You don't wear sports kit to a rubber party for example. You don't go to a Chinese restaurant and demand Pizza. So I'm sure you could be a member and participate if you still identify as male and adhere to the dress codes.
I am pretty certain that if any trans male were to approach the club wishing to join then they would be welcomed into it. Having a dress code policy is not transphobic, a men only club telling a trans male that they couldn't join would be but this isn't the case.
Sorry but I disagree with your statement about the club. The club is run democratically all members get a vote on issues at it's AGM and can raise such issues at the AGM. It is up to it's members to decide what the policies are and aren't. If you think it should become a club for men & women (or any inbetween) or permit transvestite as part of the dress code then you should ask members to raise that as in issue at the club's AGM and enable the change to occur.
