I've noticed that my skin has issues next day after a messy session. I always make sure to immediately shower and wash my face, but it still happens. I've found shaving cream always makes my face feel funny. Any recommendations for skin care when getting pied?
Personally how my skin is after depends on what I used.
I'd avoid anything too chemical or soapy (like paint, shaving, cream, etc.), since they can irritate or dry out your skin. Stuff that's hard to wash off like peanut butter and frosting will force the cleaning process to take off a layer of your skin. Stuff that has a harsh texture, like poorly mixed cake batter, will rub off some of your skin too.
I find stuff that's smooth and not too solid like pudding, yogurt, honey, cool whip, etc. are the best in terms of not damaging my skin.

My wife and I found out about the chemical wam early as well. She also has very sensitive skin and smells. She can get nauseated just from canned whipped cream if it gets near her nose. I make sure we shower together as part of the wam experience and wash her hair body in a mild soap and shampoo. Once she's out of the shower, but still damp skinned, I rub a Shea butter based lotion over her body and she seems to be okay after.
I only really do mud (at least I haven't in years) and I find that, even after washing off, it gives an interesting texture to the skin, almost smooth, in a sense.
Messy-skincare is what you need to achieve. Start with home made, natural ingredient, masks/facials. There are lots of recipes from women who have no WAM interest . They are focused on having better skin... Although they often talk about how great their faces feel after a good mask. I totally agree! Started with one called 'banana bread mask' and evolved it from there. There are others. Something will work for you. Of course the thin painted mime face is not enough. So the volume of ingredients in a mask can be scaled up to a PIE IN THE FACIAL
This has actually reversed some discoloration for me.
