I use shaving foam to wam but have never put it over my head Does it sting your eyes if it gets in them? My usual wam for face coverage is custard/flour paste/cornflour & I don't find mud any problem for "full facials" Going right under is such a great feeling
I would say the fact that it is designed to go on the face means it's less likely to cause irritation. Cosmetics were traditionally tested on animals, to check for how the body reacts. Not saying that is a good thing, but just think of all the testing and safety precautions a soap/cream product has gone through before it gets on the market.
The thing to worry about would be foods, because a food manufacturer is not concerned how it feels when applied to the face.
I say shaving foam is the safest thing out there other than water. Plus it dissolves in water and doesn't really stain.
I was concerned about it stinging my eyes too. I did play with shaving cream over the weekend and got it all over my face. I actually put a bit of food coloring in some of it too. It did get all up in my eyes and other than making my eyelashes stick together (which any substance that gets near my eyes does) and it very very mildly had a 'sting' for like half a second and went away.
So I say go for it. Foam it up all over your face!!!
I've always loved shaving foam, plain white or coloured, it's fun. I think the best thing is that it is so easy to clean up afterwards so if you want to play but you know that you haven't got the time for a huge clean up session...it's perfect!!!
I never have any issue with it. It'll sting if you spray it right into your face (and thus eyes) straight out of the can, but if you let it sit for a minute it won't make your eyes hurt any more than anything else getting in your eyes will.
Golden rule is do not cover your face in shaving cream (or whipped cream!) if you're wearing contacts. They'll stick your contacts to your eyes and you or the person getting creamed will freak out.

Yes it burns like a bitch if it gets in your eyes but I do facial coverage and just avoid getting it in my eyes. I either keep my eyes closed the whole time or very carefully whip some off around the eye area.
And I agree, going fully under mud is one of my favorite messy experiences (in case doing like 100 times hasn't tipped anyone off). For my with mud and other substances I find getting things in my eyes isn't the issue, it's getting stuff in my ears that's really annoying. Wax earplugs are a necessity for me when going in mud.
