I am looking at joining a either Sam's Club or Costco. As for home stuff, I think they are about the same. But for WAM, which is better? I had a Sam's membership and the cakes where great for messy fun. But sometimes they wouldn't have any cheap frozen pies and the gallon cans of pudding would be no where to be found. It's been a few years, so I wanted to see if this changed. Also, how is Costco for WAM supplies.
Recently a few GFS stores have opened as well, just wondered if they had decent WAM supplies?
We have all three, and I prefer GFS for wam supplies. No membership and they specifically cater to restaurants so are great for bulk quantities of pudding, dressings, sauces, etc... Costco and Sam's cater more to home so more multipacks of smaller containers, with a slight added cost for all the packaging.
GFS is the best "bang for the buck" when it comes to massive amounts of stuff to mess with. To eat, no thanks. Another thing to look for is for restaurant supply places, sometimes they are WAY cheap. But that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. A few times, customers who ordered customs got almost double the mess due to penny pinching
If not covered in frosting, are you really living?
Just JD said: I can't speak for Sam's Club but the Costco's around Baltimore do NOT carry the bulk cans of pudding; just the snack pack kind for kid's lunches.
JD, you can also try BJ's wholesale club, which I know has at least a few locations in the Baltimore area & 2 locations near where I live, in Capitol Heights & Bowie, but I'm not sure where the GFS is in MD.
I'm based in the UK so can't speak for the others, but I personally think that Costco cakes (if we isolate this from other WAM material for a second) are by far the best cakes for WAM fun. They're big, deep, super soft and packed out with frosting. They're perfect for sitting on or generally smushing anywhere on a naked body! The sheet cakes are best and the chocolate fudge cakes also are nice. You can stack up the sheet cakes to make huge multi-tier cakes to dive into, although the cost associated with this ramps up pretty quickly. For other WAM material, Costco doesn't always hold an advantage over other superstores.

Thanks for the tip C-foster. The Sav-a-lot grocery stores in far western Maryland carry the big cans of chocolate and vanilla pudding for about $5 a piece. I assumed that all of their stores carried it until I tried to find it at the ones around Baltimore which apparently do not. That is why Marci and NorfolkMess ended up with just Cool Whip pies at the DC dunk tank
Don't forget about Amazon prime and bulk food supplies. It's not really cheaper, but I did have The fed ex guy drop off 30lbs of frosting in one order in a closed brown Amazon box.
Everyone, thanks for your input. I'll get a Sam's Club membership then, cause they are literally in my back yard. (They are on the opposite side of a valley so I don't see them, but nobody can build behind me, win win). There are a few GFS stores around here and a few in the next state. When I buy bulk WAM, I go about an hour or so away from where I live. I know way too many people to buy it local, I always run into somebody I know.
Grimm, far as Amazon Prime goes, the deliver guy knows I am nuts to being with. I get tires, exhaust systems, etc. from Amazon.
That's a mistake. I love Sam's Club for just about everything else, but they are pretty useless for WAM supplies. But if you want to ignore literally all of the advice given to you, then by all means, go right ahead. :ohbruther:
Bob, I am planning on going to GFS for WAM supplies, Sam's for everything else. Sorry I wasn't clear. It seems Costco is just about as worthless as Sam's for this stuff.
