And since it's success I have been pondering the option of marketing a kit that will allow you to use the same system to get gunged or slimed by friends remotely.
This is all purely hypothetical right now but I'm just posting this to guage interest in such a product. I would likely price this just to cover costs as I really want to give back to this loving community.
The opportunities for such a system are endless with options of group gameshows, and even random timed releases.
If you would be interested in something like this please let me know here, and also let me know if there are any features you'd love to see and perhaps together we can create something great!
It's great to hear that there is interest both here and in my messages. I'd love to know which aspect (s) people are most looking to resolve: *Safe and sensible gunge storage, i.e sitting large amounts but not above your head and not leaky *A plug system, i.e a non leaky method to attach to an already resolved gunge storage method *Release system, i.e the remote bit that gunges you. This includes platforms to interact with others who can gunge you.

We all need these two. The release system and platform access to it is cool and I'm sure lots of us would love one but we need a safe non-leaky system to release first!

This bit was the reason I decided not to make a consumer version of the portable gunge tank I built last year.
So all the gunge tanks I've built are safe to use when used properly, they were not however idiot-proof. Even the first gunge tank I built 10+ years ago I had to ensure people were either properly trained or at least supervised whilst using it to ensure it was used properly. And then when I did the portable tank last year I then had a bunch of enquiries from people who had been trying to rig something up themselves in a clearly dangerous way (like having large amounts of liquid overhead balancing on just the edge of a bathtub).
Whilst I could make things safe if used properly, making stuff safe to the point of idiot-proof where you can guarantee someone won't be seriously injured if they ignore the instructions or do something stupid (there's a reason you get labels like don't stick forks in toasters whilst on) or overlook something for safety because they're prioritising some fantasy. Given that a large weight of a container of liquid could potentially kill I neither wanted to be in a position where I supplied something that someone did something stupid in which I'd enabled their injury nor would I want to deal with insurance to sell them.
Anyway I only post this due to some of the frankly terrifying setups I saw sent through after the portable gunge tank build to say if going that route then don't assume everyone will follow any instructions you give them, I can guarantee from what I've seen someone will ignore it and you'll need to ensure what you do is idiot-proof. Especially as people horny at the thought of having some gunge tank setup may overlook safety issues and cut corners such as hanging the bucket from a shower curtain rail (not designed to hold weights like that).
Whilst posting just have one quick question about your initial design. What do you use to fix the balloons to your release mechanism? Curious as initially with my first gunge tank design more than a decade ago I attempted a water balloon in the hole and pull it out style release mechanism which whilst very good at preventing leaks was incredibly unreliable as it kept coming off the strings and/or chains I attempted to fix them too. In the end they proved so unreliable I had to abandon that release mechanism in favour of more reliable options. Did think about trying balloons again with a sort of syringe/balloon pump system for a low tech pneumatic system (push air from syringe into balloon to inflate and block hole and pull syringe to deflate balloon and open up hole) but in the end went with other options.
