Hey guys. I am not exactly a tech guy, so I would be super appreciative for some advice as to a recording device. After 5 years of recording my girlfriend now wife's messy sessions with cell phones for my personal enjoyment, I stopped to think....why the hell did I not invest in this years ago?
Something that's user friendly, easy to transfer the video onto my computer, and has a easy to use tripod are my only requirements. That, and something that won't break the bank (keep it around $250ish or less if at all possible).
Glad someone asked about this as i've been wondering the same thing. I'm older and much mire used to cameras (still and videp) with film. I used to record videos with a camcorder that used mini videocassettes which is no more and am not really up on the newer technology. I experimented last year with a cheapo camera and was extremely disappointed with picture quality even though it was labeled as being "hd". (I mean i wasn't expecting much from something very cheap but as least not something inferior to the old videocassettes)
What would others recommend? Like above poster, main factors are easy to use and upload to net and hopefully not too expensive.
If you don't get need a zoom function you can get a cheap GoPro knock-off and waterproof mounts for under $50. I use a GoXtreme Pioneer which shoots HD and 1920 x 1080 at 30 frames per second. Its sharp and and has 4 white balance presets. Think about lighting too, especially if you're going to shoot indoors. Regular house lighting usually only lights from above, causing the camera to expose for the brightest area of you model - ie. the top of their head - this can result in their face and body being too dark. You can pick-up a Neewar LED video light and a stand for around $80 + batteries/charger/mains supply, or a cheaper option is a DIY-store LED flood lamp, some of which are waterproof.
