So I went to a local beach today for the first time with my family. As I wasn't alone there was no opportunity for WAM, but it's the first time I've ever encountered real quicksand.
There were a few areas of the beach with pools of water or riverlets running into the sea, and the water to sand ratio was obviously right to make the sand extremely soft! To be clear, this is not mud, but waterlogged sand. Standing on it meant instantly sinking to knee depth, and it was very difficult to move in to escape.
That said, I know it's basically impossible to actually sink fully in quicksand, and problems only really occur due to exposure and incoming tides. So deep down of course I was desperate to play in it, sink right down and squirm my way out (ideally with minimal clothing).
Unfortunately the only way this could be possible would be to visit alone, which could be irresponsible if I ran into any trouble. The other thing I noticed was the presence of Thornback Rays on the beach, which can bury themselves in soft sand, so having no shoes in a quicksand could end with a nasty surprise.
I wanted to ask if people have experience of this and what you suggest if I was to venture into the quicksand one day.
(For the psychologists amongst us, yes, I was terrified of quicksand when I was little, so the notion that our childhood fears somehow become our fetishes may have a little credibility...???)
Beach location available by request (UK, north)
Thornback Ray pictured for reference (not alive). I've also uploaded a pretty poor video of me putting my hand in the surface to my profile - all I could get in the circumstances, but you could sink MUCH deeper very quickly!
Some of your assumptions about quicksand are not quite spot on as there are numerous type of quicksand, primarily distinguished by sand grain size and what is underneath, especially what is holding the sand grains in suspension. I would be be remiss if I did not strongly recommend that you never play in any tidal quicksand...
Quicksand is more of an erotic concept than something erotic to experience. Sand is abrasive and will rub private parts raw quickly in addition to the danger of becoming stuck. And, yes, it is possible to sink completely under quicksand if certain conditions are present...
If you wish to pursue exploring your quicksand fear, i suggest you transfer your interest to deep clay, it is much safer usually and much more sensual on the skin!...
