Hello, all. Girlfriend and I had an impromptu messy session where she poured baked beans all over herself, and wants to explore more aspects of WAM.
Specifically, she wants to mud (clay) wrestle in an inflatable pool. We have easy access to a shower in the basement with a floor drain.
I've done some searches on this forum for clay powder/bentonite powder, and I'm looking for suggestions for those of you who have done clay/mud wrestling "in-house" on what kind of powder I should search for online or in local craft stores. I see a bunch of different types come up when searching and I'm having a hard time figuring out which would be best to use for what we're trying to do.
Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much!
IF I recall correctly, I believe "sodium bentonite" is what the majority use. Definitely message Jayce, Leon, or Candy if you don't hear back as I know they've all done indoor mud.
Kaolin clay does a great job, with 2 x 25kg bag you will have about 2inches of clay the wrestle in a 4x8 inflatable swimming pool. Bentonite clay would swallow at least twice fhat water and make much more mud, but the coverage is less good as it turns semi-transparent.
Tips.. dilute in a lot of water before sending the drain.. you dont want to clug that drain ..
Also absolutely wear a mask when mixing the clay dust will go everywhere including your lungs and stick there.. big no no!! Once the clay is wet, not more dust it's safe to remove the mask.
Enjoy! Clay wrestling is my absolute favorite, wish I could do it more often.

Thanks for adding that, can't stress that enough. I was dumb when I was younger and working in auto body, and I can't imagine how much fiberglass and paint dust is in my lungs now...
