Have any of you ever had a model back out at the last minute when she saw the mess she was about to be covered in and was afraid? Or have you ever had a model take 1 or 2 pies and end the shoot prematurely? What did you do in that situation and how do you salvage any footage you may have gotten?
Lots of models have not shown up or a few did not want to get pied or their hairface messy LOL LOL. Best is just let them go and try to replace them ASAP. This happened with LA Direct model with me a few times and within an hour I had another model ready ro go
As Lenny said, always have a "Plan B" and have other models on the set ready to go. Tracie and I sometimes have models who fail to show up, but then we don' base all our plans around 1 model alone. We normally plan for a day of shoots with 4 models, so we book 4 models and if one does not show up, for whatever reason, we carry on regardless with the other 3 girls cos we have plenty of scenes to shoot and other models on the set ready and willing to go.
FYI you can't salvage any footage if a girl has second thoughts, cos basically the model should never get get paid upfront and only gets paid once they sign the model release form at the end of the shoot. So if they have had 2nd thoughts and refuse to sign the release form, then they walk away without getting paid. This is normally no big deal, cos whenever I had a model who had 2nd thoughts I simply said to them "do you want to get paid or not". I remember one model in the 1990's whom we spent a day doing shoots with, and at the end of the day she demanded to have "editorial control" over how we would edit the footage....so she said to me, "I will not sign the release form until I see the final cut version of your edit to see if I am happy with how I look" etc....so I replied to her "OK....my partner Sean has a 3 year backlog of editing the 1000+ scenes we have made, so he normally edits and releases our media 2-3 years after we shot them....so if you want to have final cut approval on the footage then come back and see me in 3 years time and then you can get paid 3 years later, cos you do not get paid until you sign the release form.
Luckily we have rarely had any problems in 24 years of shootings...but somethings stuff happens...e.g. Lenny and I remember a famous incident where a girl had a nervous breakdown on a pie shoot Lenny and I were doing, and she went completely mental on the set...but it had nothing to do with the quality of the pies....and was caused by her downing of 2 bottles of wine during our lunch break that sent her out of her skull and into a rampage.
Ah yes, the irate boyfriend syndrome. There was one model Lenny and I know very well who was a diehard wam fan and always up for any kind of messy fun, but she had a boyfriend who did not approve of her modelling activities. So everytime she came to our shoots she would tell her boyfriend she was going to the shopping mall with her girlfriend for several hours. This dodge worked a few times, until the day she got busted, cos after spending the day doing pie shoots we were running a little late with our shoots so she was in a hurry to leave and get back home before her boyfriend went looking for her at the mall. So she showered herself in a hurry and did not clean herself very thoroughly.....
....and later that night when she was having sex with her boyfriend he found the remnants of cream pie crust in a place where the sun don't shine....so then she had a lot of "splaining" to do.....for how she went to mall and ended up with cream pie in her cooch.
But this girl loved the thrill of taking chances, cos in her daytime job she was working as a Realtor and during her lunch breaks she would lock the door to her office and run an x rated webcam show from her realtors office, and she got busted doing that as well, when she forgot to lock the door one time and somebody walked into her office while she was playing with herself on the desk.
We have never had girls get upset during a pie shoot because they did not like the erotic nature of the scenes we were doing. The only times a girl got upset was when "somebody" (it was not me) threw a pie too hard at a girl and almost broke their nose, or when the pies were melting in the sun and the pie crust was falling apart in their hands ...so they decided to throw the pie including the tin foil plate as well...which is a bad idea, cos those tin foil plates can cause cuts to the face (and did) if you throw them. So...the rule there is....if you want to "throw" the pies you must develop a good pie crust that is solid, but not too hard like a biscuit is. If you do not have a good pie crust that will not fall apart, then don't try to do pie "throwing" and just go with "pie placement" instead.
I've always been a firm believer in allowing a model to bring along a friend if they wish so that they feel comfortable and 'safe' at the shoot, especially if they're a first-timer. However, I too once encountered a model who brought a boyfriend along on a shoot and he got very threatening after he found out what she was going to be doing (wearing a skimpy outfit), and after about a half an hour of that I had to tell both the model and the boyfriend that the shoot was cancelled and that there was going to be no payment other than their lost gas money. At that point the boyfriend got so angry that I can remember quite clearly telling him that I had both a dog and a handgun and that if he didn't like it I was calling the police. Suffice to say, I never worked with that model again and have had a strict 'no boyfriends' policy ever since, and will not work with models that insist their significant other be at the shoot unless I've met them in a public place beforehand and had a chance to lay out specifically what's going to happen at the shoot. Nobody needs that level of drama.
I am fortunate to have never had a model back out of a shoot, I suspect because I've been very up front with what she's going to be doing long beforehand and have had several conversations with her where I don't beat around the bush ie: "You're going to be hitting yourself with at least twenty pies and you're going to be a giant mess when you're finished, you're positive you're ok with that?" Sometimes having a friend at the shoot can even work in favor of the producer. My "Latex Bakers" video was originally supposed to be a one-girl shoot but when the model's friend found out what she was going to be doing, she asked to be involved as well. I did not know that they were both bi-sexual and had been having casual sex with each other long before that shoot, and things wound up going much further than either I or the models had planned. To date it's still the only shoot I've absolutely had to put the 2257 warning on.
Half of this shit is why it's a hell of a lot easier being single! My ex hated me doing ths and asked me to quit... That didn't happen!
I know that it has happened to some people where the model has turned up then said, 'no, I'm not doing that', and gone. It hasn't happened to me, but I have had some mild complaints about certain things like beans etc... But I totally understand that. what I hate more is when models say it's all totally ok and they happy to do it and then they bitch about it after to other producers/models etc. I always tell the girsl exactly what to expect and if there is anything they don't like, let me know and it'll be cool.
However, I have had girls back out last minute and not turn up a fair few times. But luckily when then happens, I just get mesy myself!!! so I keep the model fee and get messy, win win!!

We have never had this happen....because there is a very easy way to avoid such misunderstandings, i.e. whenever we scout for new models we always send them links to our website and recent shoots, so the model knows exactly what we do before she shows up. Sure, we have had some models we contacted say "hell no, I will not do that"...but that all happens in advance via email so those girls who say no never get booked. So the best thing is to always send your prospective models links to your website and galleries so they fully understand what is required etc.
All our models are pre-interviewed for weeks before we book them and they know what we do cos we send them links to our galleries and sample videos, so there are no "surprises" when the model shows up for the shoot.
But sometimes we have had problems where the model ended up liking the wam experience too much, far more than they originally thought...cos we have had instances where the model has said "I am comfortable doing the wam stuff in an R rated way, but I will not do X rated stuff". And then what happens is that the girl enjoys herself more than she thought and gets into it too much with the other girls in the scene....and will later say...I did not mean things to go that far - I got carried away and was having too much fun...but can you edit out some of the more explicit bits I did not intend to do". We avoid that problem these days by only hiring models who agree to do X rated scenes, so we no longer hire PG or R rated models any more....we only hire professional porn stars, and most porn models we meet have no problems with the wam culture, but some may not want to do the shoot not because they do not like wam, but for more logical reasons...e.g. some models spend $2000 on hair extensions and do not want their hair extensions ruined during a messy shoot.
