Rob Blaine of Messy Fun. The absolute grand master of fully clothed WAM. I was lucky enough to know him from 95 to 2000 and we exchanged dozens of emails, even back then I wanted to produce, in fact it was something I'd dreamed of doing for decades but until I met Rob I never knew there would be anyone else out there interested in seeing fully clothed girls getting covered in mess. Before the Internet, the world was a very much lonelier place if you had an unusual fetish.
gness7 said: The "Behind-the-Scenes" clips Rich would provide with his SlapstickStuff videos went a long way in adding the "how to" to the "want to" I've always had. Sometimes I would buy a scene just to meet the minimum amount to load my cart up with the free BTS content. Watching his interactions with models, seeing how he set up the studio, understanding the execution of a scene outside of the polished edited videos helped demystify the process. I learned that with a little gumption, will, personality, and patience for cleaning, one person could accomplish something great.
Ah, that's very kind of you! I wasn't intentionally planning to "demystify" anything. But as a fan and buyer of pie videos, I'd always wish I could see MORE of the models I really liked. Everything from longer unedited takes (cutting out aftermath seemed to happen too much in the 90s) to simply getting to see the model in a normal environment.
I do think the "Making Of" documentary I made around the time of SS30 was my way of trying to legitimize what I was doing, like I was at the level of deserving a DVD bonus feature or something! It's fun to watch now but also really embarrassing. Pretending to "answer" questions from a non-existent interviewer is a whole extra level of hubris.
As for me, short answer: Neil Edwards. Even though he's persona non grata around here now (and yeah, he owes me money too). But in the 90s, he wasn't just the first guy to do one-man productions.... He also made legitimately good and FUNNY videos with the very definition of "girl next door" models. Plus, his pies (and his accuracy) were unparalleled. We talked shop for years.... first with me as a customer and fan, then tapping his brain about possibly shooting my own stuff, and then finally as a peer. He seemed to like what I did but always thought I'd get sued for dropping in 20 seconds of actual Law & Order footage into my cheap-ass parodies.
Moe Howard, Soupy Sales, Beth Merrullo, my 8th grade neighbor who would "accidentally" fall into her own pool fully clothed, Mindy Snyderman WHO asked me to spray whip cream all over her at a high school softball game. Ok...I lied........about the first two.
In in terms of WAM producers....Mark at WAMTEC and Rob Blaine at Messy Fun. There's is the first stuff I saw. Then I was "influenced" by simply talking to well over 200 WAM fans about what THEY wanted to see. After that it was just giving the customer what they wanted.
