You guys or gals that are into mud... I was wondering what the percentage of people have a mud pit or mud on premise that you easy slip into if the feeling is right... I'm into food so it gets costly everytime the mood stikes... But i imagion you mud people who are not in a city can have a pretty sweet setup for anytime you want in the backyard or something.
Growing up in a coastal town I knew secluded places I could cycle to in half an hour or so. Once I moved to a city but could drive, locations became easier to find, and carrying a couple of changes of clothes plus wash-off facilities became a lot easier.
Here's one idea I'll share: We picked up a gazebo tent at a rummage sale a few summers back, and set it up in the back property (we had a few neighbors, but it wasn't what I'd call typical suburban). We moved a large inflatable pool in, ran a hose and lighting out to the inside, filled it with 4 or 5 bags of clay, and kept it up for about six weeks. For the most part, it was brilliant - flaps for privacy, no floor to worry about ruining, loads of room and all sorts of privacy. We had to bin it before the Sis in-law and her 4 nosy kids came to visit, but still - worked really well on all sorts of levels. It would probably work pretty well over a forest mudpit, too.

That's a really cool idea. Also keeps the bugs and stuff out. Did the mud stay warm in there?
Yeah, wasn't bad. Tended to keep the heat in fairly well if you kept the flaps down, but then again, average day temps were about +26c/78f, so it was almost better some days if it was cool. Got a bit humid some days, but we didnt keep it around long enough to see if general dampness would create any mildew issues. The inside was splattered as fuck by the end anyway, so...
I had a mud pit in the backyard for several years. Only one neighbor and they were easy to avoid. It was fucking awesome. Eventually I had to cover it up when the kids started getting old enough to ask questions about it. And by that time I'd spent nearly every weekend night playing in there and was kind of ready to move on and get back to exploring and finding new mud.
