Has anyone had any experience with this happy looking device? More specifically, do we think it'd cope with being filled with gunge, and are the dimensions adult sized?
The example photos on Amazon show adults using it so yes, appears to be adult sized. However the bucket isn't very large, so while it looks like fun to use, it's not going to deliver the total drenching that many of us would want. It probably would work with gunge, especially if it was mixed fairly thin, but again the quantity will be limited.
From a wam pov, if the main thing someone is after is the shock / humiliation of a sudden dowsing, it's probably going to work well, but for someone who wants total drenching in lots of water or gunge, especially if fully clothed, the bucket volume will probably be insufficient.
As it looks as if the release mechanism is built into the bucket it's unlikely that it can just be replaced with a larger one, plus there will be a limit to the weight the PVC pipes can carry, though it might be possible to strengthen it by cutting lengths of square timber sized to fit inside the pipes to the same length and sliding them inside.
The fact this exists though shows there's a definite ongoing interest out there in getting people wet for fun.
They are all wearing bikinis, though kudos to the one who lies back and takes the water straight to her crotch - nice! But that amount of water isn't going to make that much impact on someone fully clothed. Does look like a fun device though - perhaps combined with people off-camera throwing buckets of water after it's been triggered?
Interestingly YouTube recommended this as one of the follow-on videos, the woman in it is wearing a great wetting outfit, and note the fantastic camera angles, including an almost-overhead one with a perfect view of her legs and trousers going into the water, plus a rather brilliant underwater looking-up one. Whoever set up the filming for this really knew what they were doing.
There are quite a few of those machines about on the hire market now with people calling them Dunk Tanks. Unfortunately, we quite often get calls from people who think they have booked a dunk tank and one of those contraptions turns up. They are pretty crude but do seem, to work. There is a more professional version here that at least looks the part.
Awesome. Thanks for the advice guys. I think this one appeals partly because it packs down to a small size for storage.
I guess the next question is whether it's worth £260 to buy and import one of them. Maybe it's not, for a punt on something that may or may not suit me.
Who knows, maybe Argos will get something in for their Summer catalogue....
Looks like the basic frame would be easy enough to make from PVC downpipe and joints like they sell in B&Q, only tricky bit is the release mechanism and there have been lots of discussions here over the years in how to make a gunge tank out of DIY store parts.
