In Holland it's almost tradition that you try to stand on ice when it freezes. Almost all guys have tried the ice...and fell through. Some once in their life, some guys multiple times per week. It's a great way to get wet. Of course, if you fall in completely, it's too cold to stay wet, but if you kind of plan it, and you only sink in up to your knees or so, it's kind of expected that you stick around despite the wet feet, being a 'tough' guy. I have spent many times in high school spending the rest of the day with partly wet pants and squelching wet shoes, as did a lot of the guys in my class. During breaks we would try the ice on the ditches around the school. You were only allowed to go home if you were fully soaked. And it's not so bad. It's pretty cold at first but the water inside your shoes slowly warms up a little as you walk around and in class you're inside again. Another almost traditional activity is jumping over ditches. You're a champion if you jump over succesfully, but it's a great way to get soaked if you 'fail'. And then you can walk around soaked without having to make up some kind of explanation. Sometimes there are only a few 'victims' but if you go in a group and most of the guys get wet, the dry ones are often pushed in at the end as well. And as a bonus, a Dutch ditch is -in general- not a clear stream. It's often 10% water on top and 90% mud beneath, so it's usually a smelly mudbath. And finally the most simple way of getting soaked; in Holland we bike a lot. So if it rains, you get wet. A little or a lot. And again, if you bike to school or work and you arrive soaked to the skin, you don't have to explain yourself. Most of your mates will even consider you a tough guy if you just play cool, pretend your shoes are not squelching loudly and just start your day soaked as you are. And you can still wear your wet shoes the day after as it is totally acceptable and believable that they haven't dried over night. And to make it even more acceptable, you can complain a little.
I remember one time meeting someone and went to he's house and I was walking by he's swimming pool and he pushed me in the pool I was wearing tight jeans t shirt with long sleeve button up denim shirt with socks and hiking boots on it felt great to swim in someone else's pool while he was watching and climbing out of the water dripping soaking wet and my jeans and denim shirt glistening in the sun light and my boots squishing with water like walking on wet sponges felt so awesome.
