Hi all. I'm genuinely curious to know, why are so many quite prolific female producers so reluctant to do male scenes on the side? Is it because they are less lucrative? Is it because finding Male models is more difficult? Or is it because they are not personally into that kind of content? Not making any judgements on anyone and what they choose to film, just interested to know what the reasons are.

I have the same feeling. Luckily for you... I'm opening a male only store this week. Stay tuned
My personal understanding is it's just less lucrative - there are many times more straight male wammers than gay male wammers, so the paying audience for female content is much larger.

Its not easy to go from female media to male, there are alot of differences, outfits... the style of media male audience seam to want more messing and more straight to the point..

True, it's more of a community thing. Videos or pictures are more of an invitation to engage with one another than pure wank material. Plus, with non-commercial stuff you can be reasonably sure that whoever made it, is genuinely into it and does it for the enjoyment first and foremost. It's authentic in that sense and I and a lot of other guys value that aspect greatly. Which is not to say that some way to earn enough money to recoup the costs would be really great, but that's highly unrealistic unless you have people sponsoring you directly or you happen to enjoy mainstream stuff. Would love to hear from guys who monetize their content on how worthwhile it is, though.
I believe it's two-fold, they sell less and finding male talent...good male talent is quite difficult. I can speak from experience since my fetish production biz gets many requests that include males. We have only two guys willing to be in the videos.
Most guys will want to wear a mask or not have their faces show. It's because there are next to no full-time male fetish models. Male porn models? Yes. Fetish models? No. So they have full-time jobs and are worried about getting recognized.
This may come off as a bit harsh but we are talking about marketability and sales - too many guys who are willing to be on camera are fat and not attractive. So yes, finding good looking and in shape guys who appear fully in fetish videos is quite the challenge.

As a customer, I gotta disagree with this ... I'm really not into random guys gunging themselves for their own pleasure and putting it online. I agree there is a lot of that content on here - and it has certainly grown over the last few years - but I don't think you're competing with that content so much. I'm wanting to see guys I consider hot get gunged, gunge in-of-itself doesn't do it for me!
Obviously I'm projecting what I want to see here. I'm guessing there must be a good portion of like minded guys that think similarly.
I do agree with this sentiment (again, from a consumer perspective):

I am curious Al whether a few of your models sold far better than others for the gay audience? I was obviously a repeat customer (including customs) for one of your models, that I found was particularly attractive - it was the mix of looks, but also that he wasn't so much there for his own gratification, but rather he was being gunged for our pleasure (gunge is a punishment or forfeit, that's part of what makes it kinky for some of us obviously ... which doesn't fit in with guys gunging themselves for their own fun).
Anyway, there are some great gay-led WAM sites obviously, and some find some really fine guys (although they are the more tame sites). In my mind what the female sites could (and do) bring are better facilities and fun contraptions that the male-only sites probably can't afford ... but still need to find the right guys to agree to be onscreen if you're going to sell.
Just my 2c as someone that doesn't have any skin in the game, but wants to see more male content!

True, when we started Mrwam a few years back there were fewer producers (not to say there weren't any) but i think after we started other producers started to produce male media.
It done well at first then died down over time, now refreshing with wamgame again it was good but soon after starting we had covid kill alot of sales.

Happy upcoming birthday
This is interesting to ponder an but gives me an ideal of a lot of what I've noticed

THIS 100%!!! I've only really started getting into the customs scene the past couple of years and found it a bit frustrating how reluctant a lot of producers seem to be about doing male media, even ones where it is all entirely funded through customs, so the producer is not actually having to spend a great deal as the customer foots the bill. So I don't entirely buy into the argument about it not selling as well as female content being the sole reason why it doesn't seem to happen. There is the issue of how much time it can take up but I don't think anyone's expecting producers to start churning out content every week of every month of the year like some female sites do. I think we all know that would never be viable. I just wish there weren't so many barriers to making male content the same high quality of a lot of female content, which there undoubtedly seems to be. And that's no disrespect to what's already out there which I'm very grateful for, but the potential is much higher.

At MPV we frequently got asked about doing male customs and we had the occasional honest offer to offset most of the cost of a scene. With our business model it cost no less to get a guy for one scene than it did for six or more. It's also kind of a challenge to find a good looking guy who is willing to appear. They don't come cheap. Even if you can offset all of this there is an extra expense because it eats into the limited time you have every season for making money with what we were best at - muddy ladies.
Beyond all of the costs etc, it just wasn't a language we spoke. Dave and I and most everyone in our genre are middle aged, relatively square, hetero guys and we didn't want to look ridiculous trying to do something we really don't share. I personally have never seen a muddy male video. Nothing at all against the idea it's just that it would be like speaking Swahili or something. Best of luck to anyone who wants to try it but it's a small part of a small market. Dive in.
