Was wondering what someone would do if there was a place like a farm or something that was really muddy and that you wanted to play in but was not on public land, would you knock and ask permission or sneak?
Me personally would knock if it's a farm or someone's land where you can be for sure its the owner. Otherwise just look for a different spot. I too have that issue in Wisconsin and keep looking at rivers
Being a resident of SE Wisconsin, I would always recommend asking permission before going onto someone's land- DNR is rather unforgiving. Also, avoid farm fields- as tempting as a 500 acre field of mud sounds realize its fertilized with cow and pig manure and teeming with bacteria. That being said the state park system is a mud lover's dream come true. Most are open until 11PM so you can start playing around twilight and leave in the dark with arising any suspicion.
