So my hard-drive is actively failing I have backed-up the important things of life but still need a place for my other important things. I have about 50gigs of videos and photos I need to back-up, preferably for free.
Anyone know of any services where I can back-up that much material easily?
(I know I can go to DVDs or purchase a large thumb-drive and will if that is the best option. But I kinda want to go simple and just drag-and-drop this all into some type of cloud system).
Cloud storage is definitely an option. I use Dropbox, but for larger files, I rely on Google Drive. Mega is another very good option; I've used it before to relay some amateur video to my girlfriend, so she had the footage from my camera angle during one of our shoots. Also, I have some external hard drives which I rarely use (they pretty much exist solely for storage and archival purposes), so having some dedicated drives that you don't use often could preserve their longevity. But in the long run, sadly, even those will probably fail someday. Like you said, burnable media is certainly a good option as well; if you want something without moving parts and can buy on the cheap, I suppose it's not a bad option at all.

I use this as well. Works awesome and can also back up to a local hard drive (or NAS) for faster restores since it's local. Cloud is still important to protect against fire though.
50gigs free plus they have a tool to synch folders. Using it now to back-up my collection, maybe consider upgrading later as a permanent cloud backup for my system.
