So, I am going to try to shoot for doing a gunge 101 class/demo at CLAW (Cleveland Leather Annual Weekend) this year, and potentially Kink Down South (Atlanta) if my schedule permits and these events will accept my submission.
I wanted to ask y'all about topics or aspects or topics that you feel should be included to fill the gaps in my knowledge and experience.
In a rough draft of what I'll be going over, I'd like to cover: - History - Why we do this - Safety - Cleanup/protecting things that need to stay clean - Different substances - Demos of a few substances being "applied" to a consenting person
I know I am quite lacking on vaginal health/safety with various substances and any sort of history of this kink. I'd really appreciate people chiming in with anything that can help there.
From my experience, there are two main camps of the WAM community: The camp that enjoys the humiliation aspect, and the camp that enjoys the look/feel of all these wonderful substances. There are a couple people floating around here that seem to have a more artistic appreciation of WAM as well, and that's pretty cool. If anyone has anything to add on here, it would be much appreciated as well.
If you think a class/demo is a bad idea altogether, please let me know and tell me why haha. I think it could potentially be a flop, but I seem to run into an ever increasing number of people who are interested in WAM, but don't quite know when/how to pull the trigger for entry.
Wasn't able to respond earlier due to a busy week though honestly thought someone else would post some advice here as getting the word out about splosh helps to continue to expand the community.
They used to say that you had 2 minutes to get people's attention at the beginning before they switch off mentally if not interested. And that was before the likes of TikTok and Twitter reduced attention spans to 10 seconds.
Nobody is going to care about the history of something they aren't doing/had no previous interest in and will have zoned out. You want it to come across as something fun to try rather than a boring academic lecture.
You want to start by "selling" why it would be fun to give it a go. Give a overview of different fun things that could appeal to different kinds of kinksters and how they could try them. Eg. Primals & Mud Wrestling. Brats & Slapstick Pie Fights. Exhibitionists & Wetlook with clothing that clings to the body when wet showing off curves or even going transparent. Rope Bunnies that like feeling vulnerable then pillories and being pied, or locked in gunge tank or sat helplessly over a dunk tank (you don't need to bring such equipment - you could include pics if you have slides or just describe it); degradees & messy humiliation; Sensation play fans with different types of mess and textures (lumpy, smooth, sticky, slippery, warm and cold etc). I did something similarish with a small 'magazine' that I created with my old CrossDressMess website photos to showcase sploshing on FetLife a couple years ago. I've reposted it here if you need help with some inspiration (obviously CD WAM at link): https://umd.net/profile/id/110499/section/photos/album/crossdressmess-sploshing-intro-m
Follow then with Safety concerns such as slippery floors, dangers of rope bondage combined with slippery bodies, diseases that can be caught in certain mud locations etc. Candy Custard has plenty of advice articles.
Finish off with clean up tips.
You don't really need a live demo - it's not hard to workout most application methods and you won't be able to teach more advanced things like how to throw a pie in such a setting, especially if missing might result in either an audience member or technical equipment getting hit. You would also have to consider how you are going to clean said volunteer (if you insist on doing it then you will need to arranged for a volunteer ahead of time because they would need to bring a change of clothes with them, you can't just pick someone out of the audience on the day) as well as the stage afterwards - other speakers won't want to have to dodge around your mess, it'll piss organisers off if you don't sort it and won't get invited back to speak.
If you can include pictures in a presentation then you aren't adding much with a live demo anyway, just creating a bunch of additional factors that will distract you on the day. For instance I don't know if at a big event speakers will be given microphones in which case juggling the microphone whilst trying to do a mess demo is a dumb idea, is not safe mixing electrics and mess and the sound guy will have a fit.
