It seems that there are three main sub-fetishes in wam.

1. The pie-in-the-face group
2. The messy clothing group
3. The messy sensation group

The Pie-in-the-face group seems to be the most common. Usually it involves an attractive woman being pied in the face, sometimes hard, and the messier, the better. Within this group are the single pieing or multiple pieing groups, the 'leave the tin on' or 'remove the tin' groups, the 'no shaving cream' and 'shaving cream is fine' groups, and so on. This may also include having a mess poured over the head, always messing up the model's face. There is often little or no interest in what happens to the body of the model, as the attention is generally on the face and head.

The messy clothing group can be very specific. Some like to see specific shoes and even socks, along with proper outfits, casual outfits, swimwear, outerwear, boots, sweaters, and even more divisions than that. Some will only get extremely aroused if the person being messed up is wearing a specific outfit or brand. Some want to see glasses, wristwatches, purses or jewellery involved in the mess. If that isn't complicated enough, some want to see specific types of mess applied in specific ways to these outfits. For example, the victim has stuff dumped from above. (most common) thrown from the side (including pies) or the victim falls into a pool of mess or a muddy area. Some want her to get wet before getting messy. Others want her to get messy, strip naked, then clean up before putting the messy outfit back on. Lots of specifics in this group.

Lastly, the messy sensation group is all about how it feels to get messy. What might it feel like to fill pantyhose or a one piece swimsuit with mess? What might it feel like to sit naked on a cake or pie? To roll around in mud? To have cake batter poured down the top of a thin dress? This group may like to see the model touching herself, not necessarily in a sexual way, but just to feel the mess on her body. Face messing is optional, but messy hair is a nice bonus, as it can act as a paintbrush to continually slather mess on the face and upper body of the model.

So in my opinion, those are the three main divisions to wam. But within each are cross-over elements, such as if a sexy woman in a sleek dress gets pied and rubs the whipped cream over her body, which would encompass all three.

The choice of mess is a whole other thing, as we have fans of sticky, or of sweet, or savory, or non-foods and even foods that taste or smell terrible. We have gunge, slime, fake glue, fake cement, stringy goo mixtures and more. We have oatmeal and mixtures of food slop. Pies in various forms and pools of various mixtures.

Then there is the sexual element. It can be non-sexual, or somewhat sensual, or full on masturbation or sex. It could be a single person, or lesbians or gay guys, or a group. It could be friends getting innocently messy or a full-on orgy.

So when someone wants to see the model's knees get messy in custard mixed with mustard, while wearing fishnets and nike's, while she uses a specific brand of vibrator, they better order a custom. If tastes are more 'normal' they can usually find something already available.

The point of this thread is how many sub-genres of WAM there are. But overall, I think it all boils down to the three main ones I mentioned at the beginning.
