Heavy metal in the 80s seemed to enjoy the occasional pie (although almost always going in a dude's face). I think Iron Maiden were pied on TISWAS in the wake of the Margaret Thatcher/Eddie single cover. (Saw that on an old documentary.) KISS pied a guy in some '80s home video. Fairly certain that actor from Animal House got pied (among other things) in a series of Twisted Sister videos. And of course the song "Cherry Pie" (albeit with no actual pies).

Well, one metal band (metalcore/hardcore, semantics) from the aughts did it right. 3 pies in 3 girls' faces (and one dude's ass but that doesn't really count to me anyway).
