Omg! Amazing! When and where, and what suggestions are you looking for? How to build the course, outfit choices, challenges to get messy, types of mess, give me a little more guidance?
Messy buckets attached to a hinge on the structure above you, rope attached to the rim, pulling the rope tips the bucket toward you spilling its contents over your head Find a flag or object in a bucket to move on. Could also do messy balloons that you have to jump and pop to find a flag. pie find a table full of pies under one is the flag smash them in your face till you find the flag. Big finish climb to the top of a slide, slide down into the pool of mess below crawl through to grab the last flag.
Scrounge around on Ebay/Facebook marketplace for various used inflatables- you can get some deals on the big ticket items. Smaller items like pools/rings/lilos etc- buy now or wait for next winter (summer items, so the price is best about now)
Inflatable slide is a must if you've got space/budget. As well as sliding down into mess, you could also hold races/challenges trying to climb it.
A large deep mudpit allows for stepping stone/bridging games with inflatable rings/cushions/lilos etc.
Depending on what you find with bouncy castles you could set up a pool of mess in the middle to jump over, or something to act as a barrier to vault over/crawl under.
If your locations allows things to be suspended overhead- jumping up to grab a rope which releases a bucket of mess (or confetti for a Russian roulette type of game?)
Wearables like armbands/swim rings/inflatable jackets are also great for making contestants clumsier/reducing movement and making them more likely to end up messy.
