I remember Noel gunging a very cute lady called Hazel but don't know where to look for the video! Not sure if it's House Party or Roadshow. From what I can remember it was the best gunging I've ever seen! Does anyone have a copy/pics as I'm starting to think I've imagined it?!
I remember that one and got a recording. It was memorable as the lady in question actually beat the timer and won all the prizes but.... She was being sponsored to get gunged for charity so the gunging was duly delivered taking us WAM fans from agony to ectasy...
My favourite is the one at 2.47. I much preferred Roadshow anyway.
I recorded most of these when broadcast (the one and only time they were ever shown). Sadly I destroyed them all in a fit of misguided embarrassment only a couple of years later.
Little could I have dreamed that I, my girlfriend and my ex-wife would all be gunged in this very tank 30 years later.

Wait, what, how!?!!
The tank is owned by Mostwam (bought on ebay years ago) and they used it in the nightclubs for gungee. It's the tank they use to this day. They've made modifications and repairs to it but it's basically that same tank from the Roadshow. There's even a tattered BBC property label on it.

Just out of interest, I don't know if you noticed but the term 'gunge' tank was not used definitively until NHP and you'll hear Noel talk about the 'sludge cupboard' or the 'gunk' tank in these early editions.

I got the impression that "gunge" was an ITV word so the BBC needed a different one, hence "gunk" and "The Gunk Dunk" on Get Your Own Back.
It surfaced in far better quality more recently from the same channel now slowly uploading all the House Party's but a while back they had to delete everything and start again so the Roadshow's aren't up for now.
This was brilliant to see properly and in good quality - I never used to watch the actual programmes as we were an ITV house on Saturday nights (and I can't stand Edmonds and couldn't even as a kid). Hazel was actually only 18 too - the quality of the youtube short versions (and the hairstyles of the time) made her look in her 30s!
Overall the Roadshows seemed to have a much better ratio for gunging women than House Party did, even with the classics that emerged from that show.

I think there's a reason. The Roadshow contestants were all volunteers, so it would always be likely to get a 50/50; perhaps even more women.
Whereas the House Party was often victims nominated by someone else. And there is probably more of a reluctance to nominate women than men for humiliation as it's not so chivalrous.

I know I keep going on about this but Saturday Roadshow female gungings were a moment of epiphany for me. Realising that seeing women messy was something I relished. Believe it or not, it felt at the time that this sort of 'entertainment' was in decline and there was an ever decreasing likelihood of it occurring on screen.
So, imagine my delight - and disbelief - when Saturday Roadshow aired in 1988 (a re-hash of the Late, Late Breakfast Show after Edmonds' famous hiatus following the death of a contestant rehearsing a stunt) and the first few weeks of the game In Other Words in series 1 featured only women competing (this series - other than a few fragments - has never been uploaded to the internet). By series 2, male and female pretty much alternated weekly. It was also very reliable, time wise. The show wasn't live like House Party and the items pretty much ran to time every week so you didn't have to waste time watching the whole thing.
I'd love to see series 1 again. The very first gunging turned up on YouTube in 2006 and promptly disappeared again.
Wow! I had no idea the ones that had been posted weren't from the first series! So somewhere there's potentially more than no-one has seen since the initial airing?

The very first one (NESR) was set on the pretend construction site of the Channel Tunnel (then, some years from completion). The premise of the program was that Noel would travel the world with the show. The contemporary joke was that it all actually took place at BBC TV Centre because the BBC was - even in its heyday - notoriously and reputedly 'cheap' and constantly scuppering ideas (compared to ITV with its advertising millions). There was even a trailer running preceding the run where Noel is enthusiastically describing the content and ambition of the show - before realising the giant truck he is sitting in has been 'clamped'. The then switches to his 'silly' voice and says: "Looks like we'll have to do it here!"
The inaugural gunging featured a pretty, dark-haired woman wearing a white blouse. The celebrity was Wendy Richard, who was utterly shocked - after the contestant had actually won the game - that Noel pretended to fall on the chain releasing a rather thick and globby black gunge (and by today's standards, a quite small amount). I was also stunned as it really looked like it was not going to happen. Noel had a reputation as a trickster of old since his Radio 1 days - but no preceding reputation for messy stuff. Nothing like the virtually 'institutional' one he has with gunge now!

Does anyone know when the Hazel one took place? I remember going out to the pantomime one evening and the gunging from NESR had been one where it was layered in pink and yellow stripes in the tank. I could not stop thinking about it all evening.
24th November 1990 (thanks to Genome). And that's pretty much her colours too.
After all these years I'm still desperate to find a NHP gunging that no one else seems to remember. It was with a gorgeous dark brown haired girl who took the place of a little girl (maybe her daughter?) What made it special for me was the way she took the grunge. There was no leaning forwards away from it's fall, she just sat bolt upright letting the green slime totally engulf her face. As I said the clip initially had a minor in it, so maybe that's why I've struggled to find it.

Ah, see I've only read about this before, on another board years back, and when I brought it up to see if anyone else had more information, no-one even remembered the initial post, and I couldn't find it again. This is at least confirmation I'm not mad!
(Though nothing like that has yet surfaced in the NHP eps being uploaded, and they're heading into the later series now.)

It's doubtful. All the NHPs have been uploaded at some point in the last 3 years (and taken down) and I know there are people out there picking through them - hence all the high quality versions that have shown up (usually from the Highgrove Media Channel on YouTube). This sounds more like a Live and Kicking scenario.

This was definitely a NHP gunge tanking. I've mentioned it a few times down the years, as I've never seen it on any of the collections on YouTube etc. But it seems I'm the only one who recalls it, which is weird as I remember it as being amazing.
Season 2 Episodes 12 and 19(Anthea and the custard wellies) appear to be missing from the Highgrove channel, It may be one of these? There is also an episode from before the tank had foam, Katie Boyle series 2 episode 3 the last without foam, where the Sainsbury's girl is gunge by Reg from Coronation Street I don't think this episode is on Highgrove either although there doesn't seem to be any missing prior to the addition of the foam. it does appear at the start of this compilation https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=obiEkF_dxjg in low resolution. Does anyone know which episode this is from?
The katie boyle episode is there its just those other 2 but someone on youtube told me ep 12 is british rail guy gunged and ep 19 is grahame cole from the bill
