If you can't find a riverside mud pit that meets your wants and needs, what do you do? That's right, you dig one in the estuary mudflats yourself. That's what Simon did, so that he could have a pit of known depth, etc for Sammy-Jane to play in dressed the way he liked. Sammy-Jane, star of many a hit Splosh! production, wears a hooded latex rainsuit, waders, and elbow-length gauntlets to stroll around in the pit, getting stuck at intervals. She sinks to almost waist-deep in the slopping mire before struggling free, and finishes off her fun by falling backwards into the shallows at the edge of the pit.
