I've been thinking about an issue that I'm sure happens quite often and was curious to hear others thoughts on it.
A producer or small time content creator makes a WAM video and posts it on "certain sites" let's say. Obviously that's not the problem. The problem arises when that person makes the video only viewable to friends. By doing so can they friend others and use their own content to watch illegally posted and locked videos which would normally be reported if they weren't locked. I can almost certainly guarantee this is most likely happening and has in the past but I've never heard the issue brought up.
My question to the community would be: is this possible to stop from happening? If so how can this be stopped? And just general thoughts on the matter.
Disclaimer: I am not accusing anyone of anything but it is something that has been in my head rather.
Thanks for taking to the time to read this lengthy post and eager to hear thoughts or criticisms of my argument.

You're right, that's not the problem because LITERALLY NO PRODUCER POSTS THEIR OWN CONTENT ON "certain sites"; assholes do.

Yes, it happens a lot. Yes, they are made "private". Yes, producers, content creators, the hosts, and Messmaster are all aware of this. This is not news, this has been going on for a while now, and is the largest contributor to content creators and producers shutting down. It's not brought up because it's a well known issue.

Yes, very easily. All that has to happen is that the members of the community that are responsible for uploading the content, stop doing so, and maybe...I dunno, remove the stolen content they have put up. It's really not a hard "problem" to fix.
Also, you can report those links and videos here. I'm sure the owners would be very happy if you and others did.

I'm not sure what "criticisms" to give you because I don't know what your "argument" is. I'm also curious about the need for your "Disclaimer". At no point does it sound like you're accusing anyone, simply stating something that pretty much everyone knows here already.

Not sure that's quite true, I believe at least one major producer does put their stuff on certain sites for the monetisation, but only for that, not to do dark-web trades with people.
But I think the OP was meaning more people who shoot small-scale stuff with partners or friends, but then use that content to dark-trade. Now personally, being a bit of a traditionalist, I'm quite in favour of having all the pirates burnt in a wickerman as a sacrifice to the wamgods to ensure good weather for next year's mud season, sadly though as yet I've been unable to persuade the authorities of this as a law-enforcement method. In reality though, the only solution is for people to behave well. No amount of technical "fixes", or indeed public execution by fire of the ones that get caught, will be as effective as people just being decent, honourable, and honest.

Love it! This should be on UMD's front page, or somewhere similar

That's news to me. I see people here that promote and don't use the UMD platorm themselves, but it's always been from other sites like Soundguy's network, Manyvids, or their own sites. I do know there are a few who use the sites in question about advertising (which I don't think helps matters).

This still goes to exactly what I said though. The only way to "fix" it once and for all is for humanity to change their nature and stop being greedy pricks.
