Hi friends! I'm thinking about trying gold or silver metallic body paint soon. I just love how supernatural and iconic it looks. However, I'm a bit scared and hope you can share your experiences with me (I haven't been doing this for very long):

What happens if the paint gets in your eye?
Does it burn?
Are there specific paints that aren't harmful?
If so, which ones do you use?

I have to say, I have quite a bit of respect for this and don't want to start until I know more...

I hope you get to try metallic bodypaint soon, it looks incredible. The paint consists of a metallic powder and oil.

I would recommend trying to avoid getting the paint in your eyes, although it looks incredible, there can be a risk of the metallic particles scratching the cornea. If you really must, I would recommend using a reputable cosmetic company like mehron or graftobian for the metallic powder, and using a natural massage oil such as coconut oil. Baby oil contains perfume which will irritate the eyes, you seen use liquid paraffin which has no perfume, but it's still a synthetic oil.

Once the paint gets into your eyes, it's very difficult to completely blink it out until a while afterwards.

As to how the paint will stick in your eye or how difficult it will be to blink out, it depends on the ratio of powder to oil.

Sorry I can't be of more help. It's something that I am apprehensive of trying myself.

It may feel uncomfortable your first time, but rest assured, with proper care you will be fine.

I would recommend unscented mineral oil, and I know most people hate it, but olive oil was just fine for me. Unscented baby oil will work also, but it's difficult to find.

Before you put ANYTHING in your eyes, wash your face and any makeup completely away, and use an oil free soap that is unscented as well. Wash until you are positive all the soap is gone and you are good to go.

For application, start with one eye and a very small amount. Use a clean eye dropper or a clean spoon, and let it drip from your eyebrow slowly down into the eye. You will barely feel it and the eye adjusting will be more gradual and more comfortable. If you do feel discomfort, stop immediately and use a damp cloth, or wet wipe to gently dab away the paint. Avoid rubbing the eye lid itself until you eye can naturally flush out the paint and oil. Be patient, and it will. After cleaning around the eye, gently dab around your tear duct to get any flushed out paint. Vision will be blurry but it is no cause for concern or panic. It's normal. Keeping the eye closed helps keep your eye hydrated and will push out most of the paint without much risk of scratching or irritation of your eye or skin.

If you do decide to proceed and do both eyes with larger amounts, you may have vision blocked and blurred for a bit longer, but it will be fine. I actually find that sensation very arousing. Keep your cleaning supplies within arms reach, so that you don't hurt yourself with blurry vision, or tracking paint all over. It can get messy very fast lol. Best thing to clean it is dish soap, like blue dawn. Anything that will break down oil works, but I found it to work very well. Avoid using it around the eyes, and use wet wipes to gently dab it away, q-tips soaked in a dish soap water mix works really well too for hard to reach places.

Lastly, if you have a reaction or anything, have a plan ready just in case. Always better to be prepared than panicking last second.

Heh, same. It dovetails with my kink for opaque "blackout" contact lenses and scleral contact lenses.
There's a Japanese gold video, one of the big compilation ones from Bermuda, where the model was *really* into it, and there's a scene with her giving a blow job, shot from the guy's POV, and I swear her eyes are open for several minutes looking into the camera. The oil keeps them from drying out.


The trick is use a cheap sponge to rub the dish soap in first, and only turn on the water to rinse away the soap, turning it off again right away. As they say, lather, rinse, repeat, working your way down.

In fact, in addition to the advice already mentioned, I would give a few clarifications.
1. it is better to try to apply metallic paint made of powder and oil on a small area of skin, for example, on the hand and make sure that there will be no allergic reaction. Because all people are different and react differently to this case.
2. Oil has such a thing as comedogenic index. This is basically how quickly the oil is absorbed into you. For many people, this can cause subsequent skin problems for some time. Coconut oil has a very VERY high index. Olive oil has a lower one, but it's also quite high. Simply put, olive oil is more hypoallergenic, but you will smell like a salad for a few days after dyeing with it. In addition, if you get olive or coconut oil in your eyes, you will feel much more discomfort, because it will sting a little. In this respect, mineral oils or simple refined sunflower oil ( without any smell) are better - it is more liquid, but it is less absorbed by the body and is practically not felt in the eyes.
3. The brands of metallic powder have already been suggested. In principle, content makers from Asia on this theme use bagged powder for arts and crafts, and they have impressive packs sold. That they stir paint in basins ) Mehron in such volumes will fly into a large sum. The main thing that the powder did not contain harmful impurities and was finely dispersed to less damage and irritate the eyes.

Thanks for your post. I believe the coconut oil used is a refined coconut oil called fractionated coconut oil which is liquid at room temperature unlike untreated coconut oil which is saturated.

I believe mineral oils such as baby oil are more difficult to wash off, dish soap or washing up liquid is designed to cut through natural oils. It's possible to purchase mineral oil with no perfume, there's a medicine called liquid paraffin that is consumed to relieve constipation. It is a highly refined mineral oil.

Since mehron metallic powder is not available in Japan, industrial metallic powders are used which are much cheaper. I do not know what it is about Mehron or Gratobian that makes it much more expensive or if it's safer. I do not know about the purity of the powders or what possible contaminants there are.

The industrial powders are sold in different sizes called mesh with 3000 being the finest. I have tried to contact mehron and graftobian to ask what mesh their powder is, but I believe it's their trade secret. I worry that powders that are too fine is harmful to the skin and there's a higher rate of absorption. Mehron is described as an ultrafine powder. The are several sellers of 3000 mesh powders on the internet which are much cheaper than mehron.

I have seen some of the making of videos of the Japanese producers, they say they use salad oil. I am not sure if that's sunflower oil or a mix or oils including olive oil.

What they call "salad oil" is labeled as "canola oil" in the US.
