OMG, you literally don't remember VCRs or VHS tapes!? They were the precursor to DVDs in the 80s and 90s. an actual cartridge that had film on two spools.

The /s at the end of my original post was to signify that my post was being sarcastic
As a kid, I watched VHS tapes all the time. I don't think my family completely switched over from VHS to DVD until 2005 or 2006.

Very strange...vhs movies are still produced to this day and available in every second electronics market. Betamax tapes were produced up until 2017. In the United States vhs tapes still regularly sell for huge prices.

Not quite true, if you have a Vcr Player produced after 1998, you shouldn't have a problem playing pal. I can play any vhs tapes from all over the world. Panasonic vcr players usually work with both, pal and ntsc.
Damn, did someone break into my garage ? Have to look if my collection is still there. Always wanted to copy it to the PC....... Still have my VHS and CD/DVD and magazine collection in a box in the garage.

Yeah. Would love to do some captures of these, but don't have PAL hardware.
