So I'm sure this topic will have been discussed before but just wondering what injuries people have sustained whilst getting messy.
I've recently broken my leg (none mess related) but as I'm just starting to recover with my surgery last Saturday, it got me thinking about when I might feel safe enough to risk doing anything messy related in the future. That naturally lead me into wondering what other people had done to themselves and how long before they felt safe enough to do things again.
I was on a trip to the Pacific Northwest. I stopped by Soap Lake, which is a place where tourists cover themselves in "healing mud" and...I don't know, exfoliate? Somebody had mixed up a very nice little area with black lake mud and I took several running jumps into it. The next day, I also dove headfirst into the Willamette River fully clothed, but I kind of misjudged the angle and belly flopped a little bit. Nothing that actually caused any pain or injury at the time.
I'm not sure which one did it, but just before I flew back home my back started getting tight and I ended up throwing it out. It was two months before I could walk without pain again, despite the usual exercises and pain meds. Much better now (and I'm in somewhat better shape so I'm less likely to throw it out) but that kind of put a damper on the back half of the summer.
