Maureen O'Hara died peacefully at home yesterday. She was 95.
We, of course, honor her for her role in "McClintock!" with John Wayne. She was also in another slapstick-filled movie, "The Parent Trap" (the original), though she was not part of the messes.

Really, there are precious few left from that golden age. I think Kirk Douglas (98) and Olivia de Havilland (99) are now about it.
Rhonda Fleming (94) and Doris Day (91) as well.
O'Hara seemed to always be one of those unsung actresses, in a way.
She never seemed to get the accolades that actresses like Elizabeth Taylor or Katherine Hepburn got, but she was still a marvelous talent.
Besides the films she is well known for like "Miracle on 34th Street", "How Green was my Valley", and the many films she did with John Wayne, one of my favorites was 1948's "Sitting Pretty". Though that was clearly Clifton Webb's film as the irrepressible Mr. Belvedere, O'Hara and Robert Young made the perfect couple for him to play off of.
