Just use less water or more powder. Our packs should make a thick 8 litres or you could probably get 10 litres of a thinner gunge. Its all down to how much water you add to the powder. Did the packs tell you how much water to add or have you got bulk powder that you are mixing up yourself ?
If you want to use batters then skip pancake batter... its not as good as cake or brownie batter especially when you want something thick... that being said it is true to just use less water. If you try cake batter then just mix the water in slowly to get your desired thickness more for thin and way less for thicker pie like batter.
