https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_cZUzK_dqY I think that there's another old Shasta commercial involving bursting root beer kegs in a restaurant. Everyone in the restaurant gets showered with foam.
Nice find! I don't recall seeing that when I was a kid(10 yrs old at the time), but if I had, my mind would have convoluted it into the messiest thing of all time by now. Still, a really interesting commercial with nods to Keystone Hotel and Battle of the Century in it.
A pretty good evocation of a 20's movie melee. It also borrows from the then-period rage of pie fights and ever-so-slightly-kinky horseplay. Shasta had Avery Shriver as a spokesman for a time, I think. He fit that nostalgic look.
Thanks for sharing this commercial. I saw this commercial only a few times when I was a kid. In fact, I was home from school sick and it got me to try to extend my illness so I could see it more. This is the first I've seen the commercial since then. Pie clips were few and far between back in those days (around 1971). Now, with all the scenes we have seen and collected, this commercial, while fun, doesn't offer much of anything to WAMers.
