Hello all! Long time lurker here, and a huge fan of this site and community.
Currently, I am looking for any sort of comedy skit, sketch, or script that involves a cake or pie.
Bonus if the cake or pie ALMOST gets sat on, or falls, or put in a face throughout the piece, only to be payed off at the end. I have a vague memory of this sort of thing either in a film or performed by clowns.
I want to put together a sketch of my own that pays tribute to the classics.
For those who may not be aware, that FABULOUS pic is from the movie "Harlow" (1965) about Jean Harlow. Jean is played by the beautiful Carroll Baker.
There are several slapstick scenes in this movie. One is the scene where Jean gets the pie that you see here. There is also a scene where she falls into a water fountain. Then there is a scene where "Jean" is talking to her mother and saying what demeaning, humiliating things they do to her.
Normand : you are forgetting another wam scene in the film: dressed in a very fem/sexy maid uniform, she receives a delivery of fresh eggs, only to (somehow) slip and fall backwards, box of eggs flies up in the air, then numerous eggs come splattering down on her head, face and bosom in a great medium closeup shot.
Here's a scene still from that scene (before the egg spill gag).
Nick: there's a video clip of a 'restaurant scene' (a circus scene actually) where the snooty female customer (never satisfied) ends up getting creamed with a very messy pie (after several minutes of the waiter making mistakes and being a clutz)...it was on youtube for quite awhile, can't seem to find it now.
It would not be hard to duplicate this scene with your own touches.gags, though, if that's what you're going for.

Thanks, Wamajama! I knew that there was another scene, and I couldn't remember what it was. That egg scene was fabulous! She looked hotter than hell in that French Maid's uniform, and the eggs really splattered all over her face & chest when they hit!
And "Jean" made a face like it was disgusting and she was only doing it because the part called for it and she was contracted to be in the movie. Which based on the other dialog, would have been what Jean was really feeling at that point in her career.
I've always found it fascinating (and sad) that we have access to the messy scenes in BIOPICS of Jean Harlow (and more recently, Lucille Ball)... But the actual movies and scenes being recreated have yet to surface.
Weren't a lot of those old cheap silent movies destroyed over time? Shame.

I know exactly what you mean, Rich! I've looked, and I've never found any of the movies that Jean Harlow got pied (or otherwise messed) in! :-S
There was an early Laurel & Hardy short where her skirt got caught in a car/taxi door (with Ollie involved) and the skirt got ripped off. She walked into a swank hotel with her panties showing in back!
But that's all I've ever seen, besides her major movie appearances.
And you're right, a lot of the movies got destroyed, especially the silent films when the "talkies" came out.
And then a lot of them just disintegrated over time! And no one thought enough of them to preserve them in some way!
A few years back, someone found a vault full of old silent era movies (some Mabel Normans too, I think, could be wrong)....then(presumably) the rush was on to transfer them and preserve them before the "nitro" chemical coating oxidized them to ashes...my thought is that the old Harlow movies are still out there somewhere, sitting ins om safe in some old Hollywood attic...waiting.
On the other hand, imagine how much treasure has been tossed away as garbage, ignorantly! I shudder.

Nick,
I did a classic messy slapstick scene with the beautiful Mrs. Bee called 'Cafe Wamnifique'. Mrs. Bee visits me in Detroit and I take her to a unique restaurant where the waiter has a special dinner prepared just for her.
