I see the scaremongering thread has been deleted, but for anyone interested, Sadiq Khan. the newly elected Mayor of London, has as one of his first acts said he's going to appoint a "Night Mayor" to represent the interests of pubs, clubs, and music venues, at City Hall, and take action to put a stop to the problem of music venues being closed down because of noise complaints from neighbours in newly developed flats.
This is a recurring problem in the UK, developers build blocks of flats (US: apartments) in "trendy" areas known for their nightlife, and then the residents start complaining about the noise and kill off all the nightlife. And then later complain there are no pubs and clubs to go to - people can be incredibly daft!
So good to see that the new mayor is keen to protect the city's nightlife, which is a major and vibrant part of the London success story. He'll also be carrying forward the "Night Tube" 24 hour service plans (currently the Tube shuts down between 1am and 5am every night) that his predecessor, Boris Johnston (of Boris Bike fame) began.
Update: And today, May 17th, which is International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT), the new Mayor of London has flown the Rainbow Flag from City Hall, alongside the Union Jack, and spoken out against hate crime of all kinds. So I think wammers and other kinky minorities will be safe enough on this guy's watch.
