Of the mainstream clips I have, this is probably my favorite. Very important in my WAM fetish development. I already knew I liked women getting pied when I was a young kid. I was 15 in 1983 and able to stay up late on weekends to watch SNL. I was blown away when I saw the first one of these fake commercials (Martha-- the girl who cheats if she knows she is going to lose). I remember anxiously waiting until the following week's SNL-- is this gonna be a recurring bit? Could not believe it but there it was again. This time with the cold open! The pies are somewhat lame and the coverage meh, but I still LOVE these scenes. Aside 1: These are based on old Calvin Klein commercials. Martha was one with Brooke Shields. The other is supposed to be Andie MacDowell. Aside 2: I have ever since had a crush on Julia Louis-Dreyfus. In fact, I ended up marrying a curly-haired brunette Jewish chick Aside 3: My UMD name- CKCP- stands for Calvin Klein Cream Pies, taken directly FROM THIS SKIT!
I bet this would've been absolutely definitive, had I seen it in real time. (My 'origin story' is Rita Moreno, BTW.)
Don't believe I saw this until the 90s, on a VHS clip tape, and the thrill of seeing JLD hit with multiple pies (when she was young and super cute no less!) was offset by how crap the pie hits were. Not her fault, but MAN.... This would've been a GOAT scene with, say, the Barbara Mandrell pies.
(Side note: Anyone watch Christmas Vacation every holiday and get consistently surprised that JLD is a 'pseudo villain' in that one? I think it was right before she joined Seinfeld. Amazing comedic/slapstick acting from her, although the gags aren't messy.)

Whoah! Easy there dude! Apologies for those of us forcing you to read this thread and watch some vids! Must have taken a lot of time out of your busy schedule.
SlapstickStuff said In 1982.... in America.... pre-Internet... I assure you there's a .0001% chance that JLD knew WAM was a "thing."
Is she merely a gifted comedic actress who recognized that "breaking" as soon as she got pied would ruin the gag? That seems far more likely.
Well, my personal headcanon is that the .0001% part of her might have recognized the unusual potential appeal of such a scene. If anything, America was wilder (behind-the-scenes) in the pre-internet days.
