The answer to the above question is too much nannying going on with regular people and especially celebrities.

Sally James of Tiswas fame was once asked a question of why couldn't they reboot that show nowadays. Her answer was that she was part of something 10 years ago where they wanted to do a simple water gag but they had to make sure the water was from bottles and it had to be the right temperature, etc, etc. She remembers that not only could the water they threw at her could be freezing but the pies were thrown at such velocity, that they can break a nose.

In summary, people in the US and the UK are getting more protective.

I'm not sure that's an apples to apples comparison.

Chega Mais is a gameshow (allegedly) with winners and losers determined on their merit (allegedly).

This appears to be a chaotic free-for-all.

But perhaps I'm wrong and it's a pre-planned event?

My overriding thought, however, is hauling that yellow paint pool over to Brazil and dropping several of those Chega Mais women in it.
