I am increasingly finding the umd barely usable as it seems to be soooo slow loading anything up.
I have 1GB/s fibre internet connection and i have tried connecting to the umd on different devices but pictures load slow and i can barely watch any trailers for videos (they just get stuck if they are higher quality producers videos). Really puts me off wanting to purchase through here.
Just wondering if it is me or is the umd slow for everyone else

It's just not you...minutes to just log in sometimes. Not complaining one bit, but something is up with the site.
I totally agree with you. This site is just getting slower and slower. I used to find it was faster before I actually joined as an official member. I was beginning to wonder whether there was a connection between being a member or being a non-member but if I'm honest, I came here less now than I used to as a non-member because just fed up with a very slow progress between each page loading
This site is slower than a slug on fentanyl. Its hosting and streaming 20+ years of videos, and new videos are being uploaded daily. I don't know how to fix it. Its up to Messmaster. Eventually the site will buckle under the stress and he'll stop making money off it.
I don't know what tech stack is being used here, but I know it's not optimized. But in defense of the site, it's not just one thing. It's a forum and a store and has a whole friend/chat system. It's quite comprehensive so I imagine that speed was sacrificed for functionality
So now i know it isn't me surely Messmaster should be looking into this as tbh if you are a "newbie", I'm sure coming to a slow site would put you off even signing up. This is a community that needs to grow and expand. As I've said the slow site speed really puts me off downloading any content from producers

Indeed. I'm quite baffled by how long this last round of abysmal performance lasted. It has finally improved the last couple days. Hopefully it will remain viable.
UMD has always been my go-to link when posting scene info on various forums and servers. But now I mix it up with links to alternate MPV/QSV download stores. I'm not happy about that at all. But it is what it is.
I find watching videos on here often painfully slow with lots of buffering. On the other hand, downloading purchased videos seems fast enough and with no issues. So it's not just one thing. I imagine it's quite a balancing act to keep the entire site with all of it's functions competing for bandwidth without costing a fortune to run.
Thank God someone finally pointed that out. I never reply forum posts but I had to second this one. This site is getting unbearably slow. It always makes me feel like I'm in the 90s again, with dial-up connection and such.
I'm even becoming more and more fed up with WAM content in general, and I've been thinking part of the reason for this is that UMD is my only source of WAM, and each time I get more and more tired of opening and using this site here. People will definitely stop using it as time goes on if the webmasters don't do something about it quick.
While I agree it has been slow, to be fair, it is free, and I think MM does the best he can do (disclose - I don't know him/never have spoken to him.) He could shut this down completely and then you are left with nothing. Think about the posts of certain content providers leaving the UMD altogether, and how disappointed people are, he could pull the plug tomorrow, and has every right to, that wouldn't be great?
I'm sure he has a day job and other priorities. It's one thing if the pay related items were not working then I would understand the complaining, but from an earlier post, that seems to be functional.
There is a disclaimer on the front that he is working on it, so he acknowledged the latency.
I think this site has had his best days as I said previously I only logged in here about a year ago when I finally decided to get myself a profile but this site has been slowing down constantly I know in particular of one producer that left just because they were struggling to upload a 20 minute video and condense it down to such a small file because the site hasn't moved on with regards to how big your Files can be and they were having to sacrifice quality because the site hasn't updated itself in so long it was still expecting producers using 4K and now even 8K cameras and having to condense it down to such a small file just became too much of a pain to bother with the site anymore

While I agree it sometimes gets painfully slow, no-one has any business uploading massive video files, especially not producers. The vast majority of customers these days view stuff like this on their phones. Modern phones come with a fair bit of storage - I'm typing this on a 512 gig Samsung - but it isnt unlimited. And only a computer can tell the difference between Full-HD and 4K on a phone screen.
All producers should be aiming to make their files as small as possible while maintaining quality, simply so customers can buy more of them.
There is a brilliant bit of free software from France called Handbrake. It's a truly amazing video compressor. My editor will output a half hour Full-HD scene and its over 4 gig. Handbrake will drop that to just 700 megabytes, with no visible loss of quality. So instead of cluttering someone's device with 4 gig of data, less than 1 gig. Cheaper and much quicker to download. Easier for the player to play. Better all round for everyone.
Handbrake.fr for anyone who needs a copy. It really is indispensable for anyone creating videos.

Do you know how much time, effort and money MessMaster puts into this site? You come on here whingeing and moaning and actually admitting you never reply to forum posts. As you are getting more and more tired of coming on here why don't you actually fuck off and PAY for something faster. All the others who have commented have tried to point out the problems in a more polite manner, and, as a matter of fact things have sped up in the last two days. If you pay for something and it's not right you have the right to complain. If you are a freeloader you DON'T
