So I've seen a few women selling their vids on Instagram. I asked one how much for her vids (which are already shot...I think I have to make that clear b/c the prices I'm going to list are wild). Her videos are amateur videos that look alright, but they are no better than any other vids I've seen around here from the pics she shows off.
Her response was anywhere from $30 to $200 for a copy of the clips.
Does anyone understand the logic or reasoning behind these people? Have they never looked around and seen their vids just aren't even in the realm of being competitive?
From what I've seen it's because usually there's someone out there naive enough to pay those prices. Either that or those rich dudes into financial domination and stuff.

They have set their prices as any individual or business owner has the right to, and that's all there is to it.
Obviously man. What I'm getting at is how do they manage to sell even ONE clip at the price of $200 for the clip when you can literally come to the UMD and buy 10-20 for that price from producers who make better quality videos?

My answer, without sarcasm, is that sometimes a model/clip hits certain buttons for certain people who (hopefully) have a budget that allows them to indulge their very specific wants.
While I have never paid $200 for a clip, I have paid way above "standard market rates" for some stuff not on UMD (or vidown) because certain elements of the clip appealed to me.
"Better value" is incredibly subjective. I've seen a benchmark of a clip should cost no more than "$X per minute" but not all minutes are worth the same to me. I'm willing to pay about the same amount for 1 minute of mess that this my buttons as I am for 10 minutes of mess, because I'm only interested in the first part of the mess usually.

Okay. I will concede that specialty videos maybe, but when it's literally just a few shaving cream pies in the face identical to what other producers do, the only special is the model who isn't a celeb. Just some random Spanish woman. I guess the handful of sales are worth it to her over potentially more volume of sales?
Oh wait, were you asking from consumer end or producer end?
I answered as a consumer why I would buy "off brand" productions.
From the producer end, I can't say but I can speculate.
They may not know about UMD.
They may not want to sell through a dedicated fetish/porn channel. Even though they know they are selling fetish stuff, they might decide it is not in their interest to be too strongly linked to a fetish, or it may be a fetish to which they do not want to specifically cater (but are happy to do occasional projects in.)
They might not care enough to fight for market share here on UMD. Someone came to them specifically to get messy content, and if someone else comes along to ask, cool easy sale.
Also, writing from consumer end again, it's not even about "specialty" stuff for me. I like a lot of models who happen to just put up one messy thing. UMD (and vidown's) model variety doesn't always hit what I want.
Well as someone just said, there will always be someone with cock in one hand, credit card in the other. Sadly cock doesn't understand the concept of money..
It's literally all about what you feel your work is worth. Especially if it's not your sole source of income. I do a lot of photography that is not wam-related in my professional photo career. MANY people have argued that my rates are more than what they think the job is worth and I tell them with no remorse, that they are welcome to find somebody that fits their budget. My time and effort are worth what I decide they are. When people go looking for employment, most often they will choose an employer who offers compensation they see fit. art, porn, and other creative outlets work them same way. If there's necessity, one will make compromises, otherwise, the market sets the price and if they're not willing to sell at a price that meets the market, they don't make any sales. To some, that doesn't matter. I won't cheapen my art to move a little more product/service because my day job makes it so that I don't have to.
Decide what you are worth and let nobody tell you differently.
Because some people are willing to pay those prices. I collect art, and I see so many artists charge ridiculous amounts of money for pieces, and then some other artist will charge a hell of a lot less and do what I think is a better job. I guess it all boils down to what you really want...some people really want stuff from certain people and they'll pay out the wazoo to get it.

Co-sign
It may also have a lot to do with materials and inflation right now as well
All the points above, plus: Some people will be particularly into one specific model, and seeing that person doing something is the be-all and end-all for them. In which case they'll be willing to pay what that person charges, even if it is way above what another model does. It's just an extension of how people will pay more for quality work, even though there's cheaper competition out there.
The price of anything is what a buyer thinks it is worth. Take custom vehicle number plates. "J1NGS" doesn't cost any more to print a plate of than "K44 LPX" and doesn't have any intrinsic value of its own, it's just an index number in an official register of vehicles, but people will pay a lot of money for the former because if you read the 1 as in I, it spells a word common in Scottish slang.
A lot of models I know will price content based on nudity and sexual content. So pricing is tiered to rates like, nude with no masturbation, nude with masturbation but no toy, etc. Other models will price certain content very high if they hate doing that content and want to keep requests for that style of content much lower, and make some extra money in the process. If she's not on UMD, then if she has a really big following, she might have a set pricing tier based on her popularity alone and all videos are set at that price. If she's making enough money, she may be basing her rates on having a small group of her followers who are big spenders who will pay the high rates instead of a large group of her followers who will only pay lower rates.
