Today, a friend and I were discussing technology over Facebook, and he was describing his device:
"My phone has a stylus and a pressure sensitive Wacom digitizer that allows me to sketch on my screen like it's a pencil and pad. It automatically locks and enables my pass code anytime I leave my house and, when it's locked, takes a photo of any person who enters an incorrect code and emails it to me. I can start, stop and pause movies playing on my TV with a handy widget on my home screen. I can see the current temperature and a five day forecast on my home screen. I can read and respond to text messages from my lock screen or within any app without needing to open my messaging app. Same goes for Facebook messages. I can make purchases at many retailers and restaurants just by tapping my phone on the console at the counter. I can view and use more than one app onscreen at one time. My screen doesn't turn off or rotate as long as I'm looking at it. I can back up all of the data on my phone to my external SD card, reformat, and restore all of my original settings and data without hooking up to a computer. I can drag and drop music or any other file types onto my phone like a flash drive. Really the list just goes on and on. "
I told him that I still have a basic flippy phone. It,um, enables me to make and receive calls and texts.
I don't think he wants to be friends anymore.
Any of you guys jizzing to get your hands on the iphone6?
I have a four year old HTC Desire and keep telling myself I should upgrade to one of the new Nokia Lumias, not got round to it yet. Would never consider an iPhone or iPad type device though, no file system == no way to download content (like WAM videos) == No sale.
I'm biased because I work in technology, but I enjoy having the universe at my fingertips with my phone.

And that my love is why we can never be together. Love me, love my Macbook!

Macs / Macbooks are OK (I prefer Windows / Linux but wouldn't actually chase someone off the estate land if they turned up with a Mac), but one reason to avoid Apple phones (and tablets) is the lack of any ability to download content and store it. As I understand it, iOS devices have no traditional file system so you can't use one to buy content from UMD stores or download things from member sites. To me that's a total showstopper on any piece of technology. With Unix, or Windows, or Android devices, these issues don't happen.
