Yes, all of this. And it's not limited specifically to WAM. Stand wherever you want to politically, but in the US at least, there's a whole national conversation about what is/isn't appropriate to say to someone no matter what your intentions. Some folks will just make awkward mistakes. Others aren't capable of 1) realizing they've crossed the line or 2) caring. That doesn't mean we excuse the behavior, just that we can't shame everyone remotely associated with the conversation.
