Ha ha... as I rant about EV's, they plan to introduce charging EVs for going into London
Are they stupid?
The congestion charge (not Ulez) was because FOSSIL FUEL cars were causing pollution due to the amount of vehicles in central London. Fine, I have no issue with that.
So, how does my mentally expensive EV add to the pollution exactly? (Apart from the pollution from building it, charging it, disposing of it etc.... but that's a whole other rant)
I have no issue with road Tax for EV's, as I am using the road as much as the next person, but you can't move the goalposts when it suits you.
They really don't want EV drivers to stay EV drivers do they.
My neighbour has owned an EV Hyundai for a year and took the hit and just changed back to a diesel Range rover. He won't go back.
My £44k EV is now only valued at 18k 18 months later and I have only done 15k miles. I can't give it away. All I can do is wait until the 3 year finance is up and hand it back.
But I won't get stung like that again. Big, fat diesel pickup for me next. Sorry Government, you blew it

It's not just about exhaust pollution. Note it's called the Congestion Charge, not the Pollution Charge. All vehicles add to congestion regardless of if they're zero emission or if they burn raw coal. Plus road vehicles constantly shed microplastics from the tyres as they drive, which also adds to air quality issues - this is something that's only now starting to be properly researched. Plus of course the more vehicles there are the more people will end up getting run over by them.
You're free to switch back to a fuel burning vehicle for as long as they continue to be available, which will be some time to come - even after the ban on new ones comes in, there'll be a second hand market for many years, plus a lot will depend on what happens with battery technology over the next 20-odd years.

All crooks. Makes me laugh that people think that anything will change. Different people, same lies
Disagree. We've had 14 years of crooks and liars, but I for one am now really looking forward to Labour making politcs boring again. Leave the scandals for celebrities.
