I'm working on some new shoots and wondering if you like seeing new models getting messy or the same models getting messy in different ways?
Looking at the picture archive, I can't help but notice a huge skew towards repetition - not the same pics but the same models over and over again. Is this down to demand or convenience? It's less risky for producers, but what would you prefer to see?
I was just thinking about wanting to see Dolly again.
She has an unusual beauty which is quite enticing.
Not sure if she's interested or even modeling anymore, but if you could get her back and she was interested, it might be fun.
In answer to your overall query however, I think it really depends on the model in question and whether I find something alluring about her whether it be her looks, personality on camera, style, energy, or just their ability to "get it".
Messygirl Lane is a prime example of a model I can always enjoy seeing, ESPECIALLY in scenes I might not otherwise be interested in, just because I like to see what she does with the scene. (Best analogy I can relate it to is going to see a film not because of the plot or characters, but rather because of a favorite actor)
In counterpoint, I revel in being introduced to new "talent" and you can't do that if you're constantly going to the same well as that well can and eventually will go dry.
Therefore, It seems to me you'd have to find a way to strike a balance of the two. Continue to find new talents while simultaneously bringing back the ones that tend to do the best for you in terms of sales & audience response.
Sad to say, but sometimes a pretty girl just isn't enough these days.
--If you are a model running your own site, then naturally YOU will be your own primary model. Since that's been the trend in the last few years, you're probably seeing more and more returning faces. (I do the same thing on the male side. I am the ONLY male model at SlapstickStuff for obvious reasons. Those scenes are actually very profitable... Because I work for cheap....)
--If you have a lot of success with one model, it makes sense to bring her back, especially if she's not the type to jack her rate for returning shoots. If you are a site that does a LOT of different genres (pies, mud, wetlook, paint, etc), it also makes sense to use a handful of models who "know the ropes" and vary the genres, rather than trying to vary the models as well. (Especially if you're doing "extreme" WAM... You can't pull in a newbie who's never been messy before and expect her to do that kind of stuff for her first shoot.)
--My personal experience: Some models build up fanbases with multiple shoots. Just as many suffer some kind of sales burnout. Toshia is the best example of a model who sold very well consistently, every single time. Sadly, she was the exception. SS15 Ashley is an example of the opposite extreme... In about 18 months, she went from having my best-selling video ever (and still one of my Top 5 sellers ever) to one of my worst. Most aren't that extreme, but I've experienced sales drop-offs with most returning models... From Deana and Amber and Nikki back in the day, to Bree and Carrie recently.
So because of that, I'm always looking to bring in new faces. But it's a much harder prospect than sticking with what you know, and I understand why most producers go to the same well over and over. Case in point: Last year, almost half of what I released involved Shelly... because she was 1) eager, 2) available, 3) cheap, and 4) better than any other model for getting it "right." However, she doesn't sell like other models, and there's a good segment of my audience that won't buy ANYTHING with her in it. (I know, I've read the emails.)
This year, I made a concentrated to bring in new faces. So far, I've released 7 new volumes... With 6 brand-new faces, 3 others who haven't appeared since 2013 or earlier, and NO Shelly. The downside? My model budget has already exceeded ALL of 2014, with 5 months still to go. The other downside? No sales increase. From a strictly financial standpoint, I would've been better off sticking with Shelly and a few other reliable, reasonably-priced models.
BUT... From a moving forward, keeping--it-updated standpoint, I feel like shooting with the same handful of models is stagnating. Are there models from this year where I gambled and lost? Sure. (I won't name names, but you can guess.) But I also found Breana and Angie, and hopefully both of those will be doing shoots for a long long time. And an exciting new model, like a rising tide, lifts all ships. The SS137 Kylie release back in 2014 caused a lot of excitement with my customers, and that translated to increased sales in general. (Not just for Kylie.) Breana is doing a bit of the same now. It's certainly not an exact process, but it works for me despite the missteps.
Of course YMMV as a producer or a customer. That said, I'm proud that I probably have the largest variety of models of ANY pie producer out there, even the ones who have been around much longer like MG and Lenny. They beat me on other things, but I think my model variety has helped me carve out my own niche.
Yeah, it depends on the model. You find a girl who looks good and gets it, you find a Dolly, and I'll buy everything she's in. But if she's hot and clearly doesn't know one end of a pie from the other, or just doesn't have the X factor, I'll buy exactly one video.

Nah, nothing like that. But for instance, I have quite a few "regular" customers who would email me: "Hey Rich, what's next for release?" And when I mentioned a Shelly volume, they'd just go, "Yeah, I'm not really into her. Anything else?"
And it might've been that Shelly appeared in more videos in a shorter time period than any SS model before or since (even Toshia). So that inevitably led to some burnout. Again, producers like MG and Lenny use a lot of "regulars" so their customers are used to seeing the same core group of models. But I rarely even have the same model twice in one year, so 7 Shelly volumes in 2 years probably contributed to burnout with my customers.
But yeah, I've personally loved everything we've done together, so that's why I never turn her down when she wants to shoot. It's too bad that the audience isn't as into her, but I've always felt that when a model is that eager (and "gets it" like she does), it's a crime not to indulge her when she wants to get messy.
