So after some chatting, watching a bit of messy content and mutual masturbation my partner sounds up for getting messy and I'm looking for some guidance on how to make sure everything goes smoothly so as to make the process enjoyable for us both and increase the likelihood of it happening again if we both enjoy it.
She's expressed the most interest in colourful substances, like gunge and colourful pies. I plan to buy some gunge powder from Messy Supplies a little further down the line but I imagine our first session will be pies or maybe some sort of homemade batter slime.
What makes a good pie filling for those of us living in the UK and is there a way to colour the pies without staining skin/a bath?
She thought cream cheese icing would make a good pie but I'm worried about the cost involved in making that up in any sort of large quantity.
I know ready-baked pie cases can also be purchased from many supermarkets. Has anyone used these before and comment on their suitability for sploshing?
I'm also thinking dyed custard as a filling could work well but aside from playing with whipped cream back when I was 18/19 I have no practical experience of getting messy in this way so any guidance and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Recommendations on maximising comfort are also encouraged. With Winter fast approaching (or already being here depending on who you ask) I'm concerned about us getting very cold quickly and this ruining the experience. Does anyone have any advice on how to safely warm pies/slime/gunge and maintain their temperature?
First off, nice work on getting your partner involved. I will say to avoid dairy based products due to the lingering smell after. Go for dairy alternatives.

For this whatamess taught me you can use cake mix into slime and by getting different cake mixes you can use the colors in the mix as a slime and mixer
On dyes be careful the USA has different standards and colors but in general don't try anything on her you haven't tried on yourself especially if you have already gotten this far in her being interested in exploring this further.
Technically as a kid I used everything on myself so to answer your other question yes but because she may be sensitive just try it out on yourself skin wise hands and feet first and be close to a bathtubs in case the colors explodes on walls or mirrors
Anyway don't want to rant or anything but have fun that's the most important part for both of you and do I hope you both build epic experiences together
I haven't tried colouring either product but I think it would be fairly easy to do, especially for the 'cream', which is white to start with so should take any colour fairly well.
I know there are lot of differences between wam/sploshing in the US and UK, but if there's something similar to cool whip that's good to use. It's usually pretty cold in my experience but nothing extreme. Premade crusts are great to use but if it's something like graham cracker crust they don't really come out of the tin easily so they'll have to be thrown with the crusts on them (make sure there aren't any sharp edges poking out). I'd recommend making the batter slime with very warm water so it can come after/between pies to warm you and your partner up. I'd also suggest going easy with throwing pies since it's her first time, try not to obliterate her face lol Communication is also huge, make sure she's doing well and is comfortable and still ok with everything as you're going. Wet (paper) towels for eyes in case that's needed and a safe way to get to the shower.
I'd stick to using proper gunge rather than cake batter. At least with my experience, batter seems to create small gluten clumps which stick in the hair, and would make for an awful post-mess experience for your partner. Messy supplies sells pre-mixed gunge if you wanted to spend a little more and get it ready-made and save the mixing.
I believe that shaving cream mixed with paint would make for good colourful pies - you could still fill a pie base with custard before topping it with the foam if you wanted to make it extra messy.
I'd be a bit wary of colouring things with either poster paint or food colouring - in my experience there's a significant change of lightly staining skin. Not irrevocably, and not heavily stained, but enough to make cleanup rather tedious and time consuming, which might not be what you're after for a first sploshing experience. At least, try it out first. Would yellow, brown and pink (the colours that custard or yoghurt are really available in off the shelf) be coloured enough to be getting on with?
But your thoughts about temperature are very valid. I'd strongly suggest warming substances beforehand (microwave may be easiest, but leave them to stand and try it first so you know you're not getting scaldingly hot spots). And warm the room well before your session - I put the radiator on max for half an hour or so before we have a session. The room can't really be too warm - once you're covered in custard you'll get chilly surprisingly quickly.
I just want to add neither I nor a AimMe have ever had issues with using food coloring causing skin staining or cake batter clumps getting stuck in hair. You can see in my and her pics we always use heavily colored pies and slime and consistently use cake batter for slime and she is incredibly fair skinned.
Another good option if the consistency appeals is instant ready-brek! You can mix easily to the desired consistency and with warm water, so you won't get cold! If you buy the instant stuff it also doesn't tend to stick either, although hair will need a good wash.
I would recommend getting actual gunge for the first time as you can mix it warm and it doesn't have any "bits" in it that she'll be pulling out of her hair, clogging the bath plug up with etc
You want to get her to do it again so make the first experience a good one Then you can gradually work towards doing stuff you really want to do, be it colder mess, savoury etc. Worked for me anyway.
First of all, well done on getting your partner interested in giving it a go.
I agree we alot of the replies on here. Dairy products do leave a lingering smell so non-dairy products would be best, although more expensive. A (slightly) cheaper option would be instant packets of custard (if you are using custard), but mix with water and no milk. Prep is a bit longer. (Swings and roundabouts).
Instant porridge/ready-brek is also nice. But can be difficult to get out of long hair, without a couple of good washes and conditioner.
Batter. Easy enough to make and (as stated previously) you can use warm water. For different colours I'd suggest using poster paint, the children's stuff. As this doesn't stain. And easily washes out. Some people state food colouring, which is generally OK as well. However I can say I have experienced a bit of skin dying from it. A slight smurf looking tint one time.
As a go to guide, head to https://www.spotlesssploshing.com/ From the delightful Candy Custard. This will give tips, tricks and tons of info on preparing, using and cleaning up an array of substances.
Lastly, enjoy and more importantly take your time and care that your partner enjoys it. If at any point, you get a no. Respect it.

The sort of batter we get in the UK definitely seems to create more clumps than the stuff you have available in the US, just a heads up

Oh good call! I forgot op was uk based with my second reply. We've had luck mixing in vegetable oil with things that have a good amount of straight flour to prevent clumping in hair
Much love
