When people have gone to the trouble of arranging a real-life WAM session, how did it compare to your expectation?

Its not unusual for people to enjoy a kink in fantasy only.

Did the smell of cake, sound of tarps, clean-up or partner's reaction detract from the moment?

Was the real-thing underwhelming? Did it exceed your expectation?

Using actual food once was a bit of a pig to Clean up, and stank the place out afterwards. Shaving foam pies were better and much easier to clean up

Within the bounds of my interests I'm a "watcher" not a "doer". On the occasions when I've actually participated in it purely for recreation I've made memories that will last a lifetime. I think it works well for me because I wait for the moment to come as opposed to trying to make it happen. There's a time and a place.

I'm definitely a doer, or I was...and would be again. Smells, sounds, clean up, all these things were expected and didn't really bother me that much; even after the fact. Though it is amazing how a man's mindset can change 0.5 seconds after blowing their load.

I guess it hit my expectations. I went into it knowing my wife at the time wasn't into it, but willing to try. So I guess going through it, I had this "high" of actually doing it (my entire body was trembling and tingling the entire time), but also this sadness of my partner being uncomfortable and kinda horrified.

On my own, it used to be wonderful when I was young; but slowly devolved into "why bother". But with a partner who were into it, I can only imagine how much more alive I'd feel.

Maybe one day, I'll get to experience that; but no time in the near future.

Some substances have been a lot more unpleasant than I thought. For example, combining a tomato based substance with a dairy based subtance... creates a very vomit-like stench. But in general, I've always had fun with WAM - I can honestly say I've only gotten messy twice and not enjoyed it. Compared to the dozens of times where I've loved it.

At that point, I feel like you should have added some turmeric, coriander, cumin, and made yourself into a curry!

For a first time, pies in the face is the better option.
It's easier to convince your partner, because the mess will be only in the face.
In the first time, it's common the partner fear that the cream of the pie will fall in the clothes.
This happened to me two times: with a redhead in a red business suit, and with a brunette in denim jacket, jeans and belt.
When I assured that I would care to the cream of the pies wouldn't fall in their clothes, and that was a way to them show me how much they love me, they accepted that.
The scene and the reaction of both were perfect.

For solo play often the imagination alone can suffice to get the desired sensation, A small amount of mess can go a long way depending on how you use it, look at Candy's wamstructions for some guidance, often the supplies are under £10 for 20+ minutes of directed play. Smells and the clean up can be an issue, but can be eased with planning - if you're thinking too much about cleaning up, you're probably not getting the most from the play!

I've never sufficiently enjoyed the reality of wamming to find it worth the hassle. I mostly do it out of a self-obligation to try and fulfill my fetish.

The vanilla girlfriends I've done it with have always enjoyed the experience more than me. The main thing I've gotten from these experiences has been the appreciation that they willingly engage in and enjoy it. I also always feel that these amateurs aren't quite up to it and someone with compatible fetishes would greatly enhance the experience. I don't mean a partner with a WAM fetish is required, but at least if they are generally kinky and enjoy something that melds with WAM like bondage that could elevate the experience for both of us.

While wamming, I'm constantly concerned about things like not having sufficient space to engage in the shenanigans comfortably or worries about cleanup.

For me to truly enjoy things I suspect that I need, above all else, an appropriately sized wet room or other easily cleanable environment.

I've only done a handful of self-pie sessions, and I've found all of them pretty underwhelming to be honest. I was looking to recreate the coverage and sensation of some of my favourite WAM scenes, but it didn't really do a lot for me. Even the minimal clean up from paper plates and a few cans of shaving cream wasn't worth the hassle for the end result.

Maybe it's a bit more fun if you've got a stunningly beautiful girl to indulge your fantasies with...

I've done sessions with people from around the world and love every minute. The sensory experience is really something special for everyone no matter what side of the mess I end up on.

I've had some personal sessions with play partners and lovers that were super hot and some that were enjoyable but just fine overall. Most of the downside has to do with the logistics and clean up.

A rule of mine is to not WAM with anyone that is unsure about it, especially on the receiving end. I want my partner(s) to be enthusiastic even if they've never done it.

On the professional side, I've done some live sessions and custom videos where for the most part, the results were good to great.

A custom vid I shot and participated in turned out well because the other participant involved was enthusiastic and willing to take and give a pie with aplomb even though it was her first time. The 2nd custom I shot didn't really turn out the way that I or the buyer wanted but that had to do with the model that the customer insisted on having. She HATED it and it showed.

The smell/taste has put be off for life.
I can't even watch a custard scene without feeling put off by it.

Also red food coloring (to dye DIY "gunge")= bad idea. Stank of beetroot and I stopped after barely getting started. Ended up dumping ~90% of it down the toilet.

The good news is "proper" gunge (Natrosol in my case), exceeded expectations and felt fantastic. [bonus points for no strong smell/taste]. Brought some more immediately after cleanup, and was semi-regular during my first year at UNI.

As was the first time I tried swimsuit filling and head-dunking. WOWEE those were brilliant mornings.

Because I'm doing it to fulfill a fetish but I can't enjoy the moment if I'm concerned about cleaning. If the subsequent sex isn't better than usual it feels like a waste.
Friends enjoy the novelty without as a large a concern for cleaning and aren't burdened by trying to scratch the itch of a difficult fetish.

Sometimes my fantasy is stronger than my reality. And yes, cleaning up is a bear, this comes with the territory of WAM. And certain products have a horrible smell, avoid them. I fall between Redacted and gness7. I always experience an overwhelming pressure in the lead up to and during a wam session. Part of this pressure stems from anticipation. Anticipation of creating great coverage, experiencing the sensory overload with a partner, and being able to use camera footage to watch the coverage and mess unfold again and again afterwards. The larger driver of this pressure is the commitment (read: reality) involved in a wam session. There's laying down all of the plastic, designing the scene, getting the lighting and camera angles right, mixing the mess in a proper consistency, preparing the pies and hoping prep doesn't take too long that the cool whip or other materials fall apart. There is a feeling that I need to get things right given all of the prep and subsequent clean-up. A basic shaving cream pie or single boxes of cake mix sessions just don't do it for me - I need to see coverage. Then there is the feeling that while your partner obliges, you are wasting their time in this large project. Gness7 is spot on with all of the laundry, the smell, washing the buckets (which is honestly one of the most annoying things), and the small bits of pie crust and cake batter dust that reappear in random parts of the room for days/weeks not to mention inside your ears.

I totally experience Potatoman-J's feeling of "why bother" at the end of a clean-up, but then find myself back at it again a few months later. The imagination seems to override the reality in my memory, pushing me back to the baking needs aisle, looking for sales, and dreaming up a session.

I'm the type of person who has difficulty enjoying the moment and I've been working on this in other parts of my life. I am trying this in wam by attempting to enjoy the entire wam process from prep to clean-up. I've made it a goal to experiment with different messes and find new excitement in mixing a new thick batter. Extending the time in the mess has been another way for me to take my time and enjoy the mess and it has helped. I used to rush through everything to get it over with once the first few pies were thrown. Iain-ecgunge is totally right that the imagination calls for 50 pies, but really 3-6 obliterates sufficiently. Stretching things out and maximizing the mess makes the sessions more worthwhile.
