Obviously a question for the older generation.. But seeing how I was born in 84' and hit puberty around 97' or so, the internet and WAM content as small as it was, was there.

My question however is how did you handle the fetish before that? Was there actual magazines with wam related content back then like regular porn? Of course there was minor tv ads or game shows that got you going. But even those where hard to come by and limited to ones actual desires to view.

So how did you go about with this in what I would say a different world back then?

Pretty much this, i.e I didn't.

Library searches for periodicals and books - rather little there for a het. male. Lauren Hutton in LIFE (ah...), a few movie scenes... and then there was Woodstock '94 - a mindblower. Where Woodstock '69 had all been about freedom, escape, and rebellion, '94 (aside from 9" Nails) seemed to be about mud!

In general, there were fields where mud would show up after rainy seasons (late Winter, early Spring), and there was a lot (a lot) of fantasizing. What was amazing was not only finding Blaine's "Messyfun" site, but finding out that my fantasies matched a lot of the content on the site. I wasn't alone! Bathtubs of mud were a marvel and then a cleanup nightmare.

Watching TV games how's hoping for gunge! I remember programming the machine to record loads of things then sifting through hours of drivel hoping to find 30 seconds of a messy scene that may have been on.
Once in a while though you would strike gold and it really was a joyful moment when you did.

I didn't get my first VCR (a Betamax! ) until about 6 months to a year after I was married. So before that, it was all books, magazines, and hoping for the occasional live TV wam moment that we wouldn't see again until the summer, IF it went into re-runs!

Probably the biggest thing to remember is: We didn't get what we wanted, we took what we could get. Poor pieings, not the prettiest or sexiest women, etc. AND WE LIKED IT! Because that's all we could get!

That is the real answer to the pre internet question.

For me the first break in the dormant/new cycle was Nickelodeon. For the first time, somewhere, you could see pies in the face on a regular basis.

I bought my first VCR in 1983 and my main reason was for WaM. Back then my fetish was more wide open and included slime, mud wrestling, gunging and stuff, but now its narrowed down to pies only.

I subsequently found a retailer who carried the mag, and things moved on from there.

One thing that hasn't been brought up: I didn't handle my "fetish" well because I didn't realize it WAS a fetish. That feeling of isolation--where you know you're "different" from every other person you know, and you don't know why, and you're pretty sure there's something wrong with you--is particularly unique to generations before the Internet. Hard to imagine your entire worldview changing with a single link, but there you go: In an instant, I suddenly realized I was NOT completely alone in this particular quirk, and it was easily one of the scariest, craziest, thrilling moments of my life.

As both Rich and Nessie mentioned, I think all of us (pre-internet, and pre-going into adult bookstores) thought we were the only ones in the world that were weird enough to enjoy women getting messy! That's a scary feeling! We didn't want anyone else to know about it, and were afraid someone would find out. It was hard to enjoy any slapstick scenes in movies or on TV, because we were sure everyone else could tell (by our flushed cheeks, or short, heavy breathing, or our hard-ons) no matter how much we tried to hide it! And when the occasional moment would come up in RL, it was impossible to fully enjoy for the same reason.

While a lot of our peers ( like friends & spouses) still wouldn't get it, at least the younger folks are seeing more of it and not feeling so out of place. The community that we share here, where we can talk with others about this and almost feel like it's "normal" (lol), is just an amazing circumstance! It sure helps me to relax a little about myself and enjoy it more!
