So, I was wondering, are there any horror or sci-fi fans out there amongst us? It's a huge thing for me and I'd love to natter to anyone into the same stuff lol.
For basis, I love the classics.... Alien, The Thing, Evil Dead (deliberately mixing genres ) Also love non English stuff - my favourite is Les yeux sans visage. Its bloomin horrible lol
I'm up for both. The Expanse was a pretty cool series. Can't go too far wrong with classic Sci-Fi either.
Horror on the other hand is a mixed bag; too many writers rely on jumpscares and excessive gore as a cheap crutch. Possibly the best horror experience I've had was a few years back when I first played Senua's Sacrifice. Fantastic storytelling with genuinely creepy moments.
Believe it or not, Alfred Hitchcock and Vincent Price were my two first loves and it went on to some of the icons of Horror like King, Barker, Wes Craven, Carpenter, Hooper and Romero.
Over the years my tastes have refined a bit and I been heavily involved watching "The Boys" and found myself watching more drama based thrillers like "Se7en", "The House that Jack Built" and "The Red Dragon". I guess the only thing more scary than Jason Vorhees is - people LOL.

Give me a shout
You name dropped Evil Dead AND The Thing?!... We just became friends
And why am I just now discovering this thread?! I could talk about Horror movies (movies in general) all day!!
I love the old B movie names. Showing my age lol, but obviously Bruce Campbell, the legend that is Tony Todd, and Robert Englund
As far as Sci fi is concerned... I'm not getting into the obvious traps, I like what I like lol... but yeah... love crossovers to horror like the thing (original remake with Kurt Russell, and got to mention Event Horizon...

When it comes to Sci fi I'm more into the stuff from the 50s and 60s, the more cheese tge better. Horror on the other hand almost anything from the 70s till around mid 90's is my preference. The Thing is probably the greatest remake of all time (my second favorite all time movie) I'd also have to add The Body Snatchers remake, The Fly, and the criminally underrated The Blob!

Ok, seeing how this is largely comprised of sci fi/horror buffs, who here also fell in love with MST3K as a kid?

Oh I'm such a luddite lol, I grew up on stuff like eerie Indiana, and reboots of the twilight zone lol Very happy to take the recommendation though - I believe that's on Netflix
This one's for all the Gen Xers. If you remember the anthology horror series "Monsters" (it's a deep cut) the entire first season is playing on Tubi. BTW Tubi is the greatest B-Movie/schlock streaming channel going...and it's FREE!

OK, little known secret.
Every year, on Thanksgiving, we watch Thankskilling. It is the absolute best WORST horror/B movie ever. If you haven't watched it, you can thank me later LOL

I have seen Thankskilling LOL! I'm a big fan of ridiculous movies like that. While we're on the topic of Thanksgiving I don't know if anyone has seen or remembers the film Grindhouse from the early 2000s but one of the more popular fake trailers they made to run with that movie was called "Thanksgiving". It was directed by Eli Roth and FINALLY it's in production and supposed to be out later this year. The original trailer from the movie Grindhouse should be still on YouTube. I suggest (if you haven't already seen it) everyone check it out. PS Also being a horror fan on what's supposed to be a family holiday we usually watch Gremlins, Krampus, silent night, deadly nights 1&2 (GARBAGE DAY LOL!) and of course the ORIGINAL Black Christmas

Bro, the lead actor is so awful! He singlehandedly makes this abysmal movie watchable. I'm sure you're probably aware since we seem to have similar taste but for those who may not have seen them I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Sleepaway Camp original trilogy! The first one IMO is a bit overrated as a complete film but the ending has one of the best twist EVER! I really suggest going into it cold. Parts 2 and 3 are my favorites and prime examples of "so bad it's good" movies, I loved 2 and 3

It was the best horrible acting I've seen since, well, since this gem
Sleepaway Camp was the shit! I loved these movies as they pretty much filled my horror sweet tooth long enough for either Wes Craven, Carpenter or another heavy hitter dropped a new horror classic. I think I was in my Nightmare on Elm St and Friday the 13th kick during that time, then Alien first came out and that's when I got drawn into Sci Fi.
Something that I always thought people forget was Steven Spielberg. Poltergeist still slaps to this day
Making smut is easy. Making art takes more!

Ever checked out The Hatchet movies? There's four of them. Kind of new age B-Movies. Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th VII-X) plays the baddie. I enjoy 'em. Also worth mentioning Adam Green's(the writer/director of Hatchet) show Holliston. It's not HORROR, but it's a comedy with many horror movie references and nods. Lots of horror movie stars make appearances too, Tony Todd is in one of the episodes.

I love the Hatchet series! The 1st one is still the best IMO but the sequels are great too, an above average series that oddly enough not a lot of people talk about. Speaking of Adam Green I also highly recommend the movie "Frozen" (not the cartoon lol) and also the movie "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon " (Green didn't direct that) FYI Frozen takes place in the Hatchet universe

Frozen's great! You'll get and understand this mash up piece I had an artist draw for me haha.
The Man and The Wife said: The Wife and I are HUGE horror fans. We just watched the original Exorcist today to see if it still held up.
A sequel is in the works now due to release early next year. It's from the guys who just finished the new Halloween trilogy and has been stirring up a lot of buzz recently with a teaser trailer attached to the Oppenheimer movie and a pretty awesome looking poster.
