"Classic WAM Videos Recreated"

I will say, i've long been fascinated by this Fluff-covered Lexi from Messygirls. Part of it is that the fluff jar and the counter are involved, so it felt less like a "WAM Video" and more like "whoa, that's wild and i've never seen it before!" (i have seen a lot of fluff/marshmallow stuff since).
But recreating it would still be awesome, as it's the first time i recall ever seeing it, and it felt really daring and dynamic -- and thus, iconic. (Plus, it was Lexi and, well, she was adorable AF.)

Rob also said in that e-mail that setting up one particular shot of Kassandra taking a pie to the face in Ariel's Pie Shop took almost twenty minutes. So, that kind of attention to detail is what made a lot of those movies the iconic scenes they are, even today. It still makes me sad to think of what he could have done with UHD video cameras if his life hadn't been tragically cut short. 
That said, he left a heck of a legacy behind, and it would take a hell of a lot of work for a producer today to do a reboot of any of those shoots, I think. I too would love to see a modern take on Ariel's Pie Shop, Tawny and Frenchy's slips pie fight, and the liquid latex pie fight between Tiffany and Shaun. The Tiffany and Shaun one might be the easiest, because that was a quick eight minute scene that was used as a filler scene between longer scenes. PieGirlKay did a video taking us through her daily routine - waking up, brushing her teeth, doing housework, cooking - and getting blasted with pies in the face every step of the way. It ended with her indulging in some fun at night, so even more pies and pie sandwiches. Oh, and then there was another pie after she'd showered off. So that would be nice to see recreated.
(Maybe even better would be some Gilly Silly House stuff, but that's so firmly vanished it's hard to even find pics of a lot of it. There was always a nice mix of brightly coloured pies and slime.)

All of that ^^^^, plus, when Rob was shooting he was one of only about six producers in the world and could bank on selling several thousand copies of each 2 hour video he produced, which also meant he could pay well - his models, in 1995, got $250 a shoot, which would (in purchasing power terms) be $500 a shoot now. No modern WAM producer could even think of matching that.
I think doing a "homage" to a classic scene is OK, but attempting to actually "recreate" to me would be a step too far, given none of us could recreate the environment the classic scenes were shot in.

There's a magic to those videos that probably never can be recaptured, partially because of how they were made (meaning the cameras/look of things), and the girls/acting.

i wonder if using Rob Blaine's (or one of the few other physical "fanzine"/catalogs that would get mailed out) as a format might be an interesting way to go?
the handful of pictures that would be in those black and white print-out mailers were like gold. it made those scenes, and those women, iconic. i think that's part of what would be great to capture for the long-time/deep catalogue/"that is a core UMD memory for me" people, like myself.
i completely did not think hard about the actual cost of (re) doing something like Pie Wedgies or 12 Girl Pie Fight with that many models/moving parts.
but -- i do think doing a format like "1998 Wam Catalog" would be a really solid idea to think about/work off of
further, if multiple WAM creators could get together... You could make a REALLY cool anthology-style project. Have multiple producers/makers of WAM videos do a tribute to their favorite scene. It could be a project virtually every wammer (og especially - but ideally bridging old and new!) would want to fund/contribute to/buy.

That is exactly what we were thinking! It would be really cool if other producers were on board with this idea and were willing to work together. Of course it will be extremely difficult to "recreate" classics but it would be cool to do a spin on them and create off of our favorites.

The photography was amazing but the videos were average at the time. I just missed the style of seeing a girl making cute pin up style poses between the shutter noise of a SLR.
So it might be fun to create a video with a similar style. A fixed camera position, but make sexy poses for the photographer.
MessyHot has a similar style which has both photography and video, and the models pose for photos. It is really nice seeing vibrant cake frosting colors and the detailed texture of cake on a girl in photography.

I appreciate your kind words. It's true many of my messy videos, especially the cake/food related ones, are a documentary of how a photoshoot goes for me. I'm working on more frequently taking a narrative approach to scenes, as that seems to hit harder with most of the audiences here.
