Oh I do remember this. I remember seeing a preview and waiting desperately for it. Was a tad too short, but I still recall her nod "no" before the boys tossed her. She went on The Tonight Show with Johnny and discussed it. Cheryl had to explain this. It was partly an homage to her girlhood in South Dakota. "What do you do in S.D. in the summer time...". Oh, how I wanted to have grown up with her. Carson's comment I still remember: "Mud is a... sensuous material." "Sensual:, I believe, but I was impressed. Someone mentioned that about mud. Whoo boy. Per preferences, I remember being slightly disappointed she went in with her boots on. The Internet has since filled in gaps I never dreamt needed filling. Dear Cheryl. Thanks for posting this. 37 years.
Thank you, Hans03!! Looked for this recently and couldn't find it. Back when this special was coming out, there was picture of her from this scene in a Time magazine (I think ?) that showed her completely plastered in mud even more so than in the video. Sadly, that got thrown out along with my Mad magazines and Wacky Packages
And in addition to this mud, Cheryl was in a TV movie (iirc) about being a woman coal miner. She was hazed and covered with grease from head to toe, in a very embarrassing way. THAT was very hot! :lovestruck:

KENTUCKY WOMAN, '83. Yep, pretty good scene. I love it that this one old scene (like the Lois & Clark ones) just won't die. Cheryl's mud faceplant was one for the ages. Smess, get to work finding those magazine photos!

I totally remember the picture from Time magazine. I've been looking for it for ages. Maybe I'll see if I can buy a back issue from Ebay perhaps. It was better than that newspaper scan as it was in color and her face was covered. I did find this black and white photo though. Very nice!!
